= $95 = Viridian Serac 6-24x50 (30mm tube) - Natchez Tax Refund Sale

Y’all have any of those on bolt guns?
Nope, just 10/22 and T/CR22.

BTW, "medium" rings should work with most "fullsize" stocks (Viridian 30mm rings come in Medium/High and 1" rings in Low/Med/High).

FWIW, my 10/22 Collector #3 had fullsize factory Ruger modular stock similar to yours and medium height rings worked (Different scope/mount but similar ring height)

Looking at your picture, you may need "High" rings instead of "Medium".

I sent my 10/22 Collector #3 minus the receiver to member @irishlad and no longer need the high 30mm rings as Magpul MOE X-22 stock uses medium rings due to slanted stock.

I could send you the 30mm "High" rings as I no longer need them.

The ones on it are low rings & I tend to like scopes low and pretty far back towards my eye, but I sure appreciate you setting extra eyes on that detail.

Is the VFD-2 reticle in moa or mil?
While I can't point to documentation whether MOA/MIL, the turrets are 1/8 MOA so I am inclined to believe the reticle is MOA for MOA/MOA matching adjustments.

If you look at the turret markings, vertical/elevation goes from 1-14 and reticle markings are also 1-14. And horizontal/windage goes from 7-0/0-7 and reticle markings are 8-0/0-8.

I have already been offered a set of high rings & have accepted that offer.
Viridian 30mm "High" rings being PIF to @Spats McGee

FYI, if you are using "angled" stocks like 10/22 factory or Magpul MOE X-22, you need "Medium" 30mm rings. If you are using "straight" stocks like Ruger fullsize modular, etc., then Viridian recommends "High" 30mm rings (See top left of picture).

For AR22 application, I am using 30mm cantilever mount that looks like Viridian 30mm cantilever mount - https://www.opticsplanet.com/viridi...scope-mount.html?_iv_code=99-MT-VRFD-982-0037

Mine just arrived ... my reticle
My "old" Serac reticle looks like the pictured reticle in post #35 but slightly different. It could be that they added more numbered markings on top vertical marks instead of just lines with change in numbering.

Two Seracs are due to arrive soon (FedEx tracking shows hand off to USPS) so I will take comparison pictures of old reticle vs new reticle.

I’m beginning to think I need to find an Optics Anomymous meeting.
I haven't been going lately, I've been at the flashlights anonymous meetings.
I quit flashlights anonymous when I had an epiphany about being in the dark and saw “the light “…
I can tell you one thing ... Flashlight Anon, Optics Anon, Knives Anon, AR Anything Anon, even Power Tools Anon are all way cheaper than Saltwater Fishing Anon ;) ... The "black hole" of money pit and "Happiest days for a boat owner is the day he bought it and the day he sold it" applies.

Get outboards........

Back to the scope, it came! It has clear glass! How on earth do I mount this monster!? It's huge!

On what do I mount this monster!? I've got a .22 that I got when I was about 16, and it's got a "budget" (commensurate with how much money I had available at the time) scope on it. Maybe that's what'll get an upgrade. Where on earth do I find a 3/8 dovetail mount for a 30mm optic? And again, it's huge!

Nice! 👍

If using Viridian rings, since they are picatinny compatible, you can use 3/8 dovetail to picatinny adapter like this (But note that when using an adapter, ring height may be raised so consider using low/medium height rings) - https://www.amazon.com/Profile-Dovetail-Picatinny-Adaptor-Heavy/dp/B0763RD75H

And again, it's huge!
I did post the dimensions of the "tank" of a scope bigger than Vortex Crossfire II/Strike Eagle ...

  • Length 16.0" (Compare to 14.5" for Cross Fire II and 14.9" for Strike Eagle)
  • Weight 24.7 oz (Compare to 23.6 oz for Crossfire II and 25.6 oz for Strike Eagle)

Viridian Serac has been my reference scope primarily for 10/22 6500 round testing and now prefer it over the 1" tube Burris FF II 6.5-20x50 (Why I bought two more to perhaps use on dedicated AR22 upper and keep the second as spare scope) - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/real-world-accurizing-22lr-on-the-cheap.898035/

I think we may need more chairs for our Optics Anonymous meetings ... 😆

I ordered another one.

OMG, there's actually an "Optics Anonymous" therapy group page 😂 ... https://www.facebook.com/groups/1833113446913787/

"Welcome to the group. This is a therapy group for those buying Too much glass ..."
There was a time when I thought using higher power than 3-9x40 for 22LR was "Too much" but after going through 18x/20x scopes, now I have several 24x scopes for 22LR 50/100 yard testing/shooting. (I did mount Athlon 10-40x56 on my T/CR22 once and went, "Yup, TOO MUCH")
