So, a while back I picked up a 995 pretty cheap used. It was less than $300, so I figured I couldn't get hurt too bad, and if it ran ok, I'd go for a bullpup kit from High Tower. Well, it ran just fine, and the kit arrived today. I honestly expected it to be kind of crappy. But in my opinion it is really slick. There were LOTS of screws taking the old stock off, but the install was clean, easy and solid. I haven't shot it yet, but so far I'm plenty pleased. 20211227_211608.jpg

Very nice. When you get a chance to shoot it, let us know how it works.

What are you planning as far as magazines? Standard Hi-Point or aftermarket?

The HTA kit took my 995 from a gun that sat in the back the of the safe to one I love taking to the range. My only complaint is the trigger pull is horrendous, which is to be expected out of a bullpup.

I am looking into one of these for my 4595.
Curious as to what your trigger is like with the kit.

I don't own one, but I've read enough about them (being interested myself) to tell you the trigger is pretty much trash. That's to be expected, because the trigger isn't great to begin with and THEN you bullpup it.

M*CARBO does make a sear spring you can put in to lighten it up a bit, but a bullpup trigger will always be a bullpup trigger.

All that being said, I still kinda want one.

Which flash hider is that? Where did you get it?
Sorry, I don't remember. Bought at Scheel's or Fleet Farm, I guess. It's just an el-cheapo AR-15 5.56 accessory for threaded barrel muzzle device. It's actually a combo flash-hider & brake. It's only on there for "looks". ;)

If they ever come out with a double stack magazine mod, I'll jump on one for sure.

As is, I'm just a little intrigued by a 10mm model.

The Redball .45acp mag is single feed double stack. If you go on the Hi Point forums you can find out how to tweak the lips on it to run 10mm. Not something I've ever tried, I don't own anything in 10mm, but it might be worth checking out for you.

me too, me too!

There is a 15 round pro-mag for it also, I have one, have not shot it yet.

That bullpup kit looks very good, from the pictures looks like a high quality item, like a factory item from someone other than HiPoint.

I'm not a bullpup fan, but if I was one of those kits surrounding a 10mm HiPoint carbine would probably find a place in my safe.

If HiPoint wants to take it to the next level they need to design a double stack magazine or convert to Glock mags. This single stack magazine in a carbine just doesn't work these days.

The trigger is less than crisp. Vague is a more accurate description. But on the whole, the stock is a significant improvement. Not disappointed. I understand the low cap magazine criticism, but the bullpup is primarily for entertainment. While it is plenty functional and would be capable in a defensive role, if I'm being honest, I have other firearms I'd reach for first to protect myself. So, if we're looking at punching holes and ringing steel, I don't think a 10 round magazine is more of a handicap in the 995 than it is in a Ruger Mk ii, and I've got a 20 round mag that works fine as well.

To conclude an over-long post, it is way cooler and more fun with the new stock, but it isn't an inexpensive MP5. If you want something fun, (BreechFace described the quality of the stock very well) it fills the bill, but if you're looking for something you'd carry onto a battlefield, probably look in a different direction.
