There were also the chopped and channeled M39s and 1911s done by Austin Behlert in NJ.
Austin showed me the guns he was building for Elvis in 1977. He said he already had a big buyer for those.
Austin did an action job on the model 10 I carried as a duty weapon. Costs $35. Big bucks in that time. He told me, "$5 for the labor, $30 for knowing how to do it".
