Is it possible to install a 9mm barrel in glock 23? I don't know if it is just a simple switch out or what? If so, factory brand barrel or after market?

I am thinking it would be nice to switch the G23 out for cheaper target shooting.

Yep, just get a conversion Bbl from KKM or one of the other makers. 9mm works in 40 S&W mags for some folks - should be ok strictly for the range, but with new Glock mags as low as $20 just get a 9mm mag or two.

to clarify,... No

You cannot fit a G19 bbl into a G23 and expect to shoot 9mm
you can buy an aftermarket conv. bbl as mentioned above, and then shoot 9mm
you will neet g19 mags and should be good to go w/no other mods... some need to change their ejecter and or extractor...

I have a g35 (comes in .40 like yours) and i have a KKM conv. bbl to shoot .357 sig, and another conv. bbl to shoot 9mm. I have not changed anything other than the bbls, and swap between a 9mm magazine or .40 mag (the .357 sig uses the .40 mags).... and thousands of rounds of each now, and zero malfunctions...

I've used a Lone Wolf-brand 9mm conversion barrel in my G23 for years - it's worked fine with swapping only the barrel and mags, but if I'm going to be shooting the combo in an IDPA match, I'll swap-in the 9mm extractor and ejector just to be sure(and 'cuz its so easy to do).

Post-ban G23 10-rd mags(which were all I had to start with) wouldn't feed 9mm worth sour apples, so I got some G19 mags instead - problem solved. After I got my hands on some full-capacity .40-cal magazines, I tried them - but they still were sorta "iffy" when loaded with 9mm, so I gave up on the idea and stuck to the G19 mags for shooting 9mm.

I am planning to get an aftermarket barrel for my 23 and there seem to be many manufacturers: kkm, federal arms, efk, lone wolf, bar sto, storm lake.

Which is best?

I'm that 1%. I just picked up a 9mm conversion barrel from Lone Wolf for my G35. After cleaning it and taking to the range, results were failure to extract (stove pipes) and every other round was hitting me on the head (no limp wristing).

This is my experience with Lone Wolf Dist.

I am leaning towards the storm lake from topglock for ~ $100.

Are you using G19 mags or were you able to use the G23 with 9mm. It seems to be hit or miss with that.

Use G19 mags with 9mm. I've even used my G17 mags in the G23 w/9mm bbl, just to see if it would work, did with no problems! Word of advice, mark your G19 mags so that you do not get them confused with your G23 mags.

The G23's stock extractor and springs work perfectly with 9mm & 40, no need to change.

Shoot safe and have fun.

I hope you meant shell casing lol

Can't decide to buy an $170 barrel fo rmy 17l or the cheaper Lone wolf. Just want to shoot lead Have a 1000 bullets from the Horandy free bullet offering. But i will save those for the Glock barrel, unless i find It is best to shoot all my brass in one barrel. Purchased 600 once fired from leobrass.com, so no idea what they were orginally fired in.

Figure the 1000 copper jackets will be a life time supply for me.

I had a Lone Wolf conversion barrel. It shot great in my G23. I sold it to my brother when I started getting rid of my .40 Smith stuff and since we already had a G19.... I couldn't justify keeping it just for range fodder. My brother has it now and it is still running 100%.

I never tried the .40mags with 9mm. I just used our extra G19 mags at the range. Your really in luck these days, with what the Kahn/KCI mags cost now, I would just buy a few of them (work perfect in our G19).

BTW I shot lead out of it all the time with no problems. Just watch your OAL.

Barrel, extractor, ejector, mags..........the G19 is only $500 out my way, I'd just buy another Glock. 9mm and .40 are almost the same price up my way.

Converting a 23 to .357sig is a little easier, and more fun.

I've used the lone wolf 9mm conversion barrel in a Glock 22. The extended and ported one. No problems although it just barely ejects the casings.
