9mm carbine: heavier bullets better for SD?

Is it safe to say that in general, heavier bullets are better for longer barrels, and lighter bullets are better for shorter barrels in order to get proper expansion of the hollow point round?

Would a 147 grain bullet be the optimal weight for a 9mm carbine?
 
Well of course you can find 158 grain 9mm. But yes my personal carbine has 147 grain hollow points.
 
Interesting that the Hydrashok dropped velocity in the longer barrel. I guess it blew it's wad early and then the friction of the barrel slowed it down before it left.
