9mm Celebration Gift Challenge

I'm going to add to the RIA 9mm 1911 bandwagon. I have one. It's a fun range toy. I bought it specifically for that purpose.

I use aftermarket mags, and I did need to send it to RIA for some warranty service. But their service is 5-star, and they paid for shipping both ways.

These are my favorite 1911 and CZ derivatives in 9mm. I have two more of each. "Citadel" is made by RIA. The Tanfoglio is from back when they made the 9mm's on the slightly larger frame.

Maybe something a little nostalgic, prices are up a bit from when I got mine but you could probably find a Walther P1/P38 for 6 bones.
Mine is a refinished 42 with Nazi markings. Has some pretty bad pitting under the blue but shoots fine. IMG-20130622-00214800x600_zps6ff8ff9f.jpg

I don't have a Luger or P38. I'll look at some prices. Don't mind mismatched numbers or worn finish. Not sure if I can find one for $600 total. I'll look and see what's out there.

I have a third generation S&W 9mm. Is the Model 59 considered to be second generation?

The $600 OTD is a tough figure to stay under in my neck of the world. That’s the starting point for new Glocks here, and real CZ75s are well above that now.

Pretty much have to look at Turkish, Brazilian, and Philippine makes and clones to be out the door at $600 local to me.

Your post helped me finally understand. Since I've always kept my handgun purchases under a certain figure, I'm starting to see that I might have covered most of the bases already for nice clones and nice surplus pistols in 9mm. Didn't think about it that way until just now. I was just thinking, "There's a bazillion kinds of 9mm pistol out there." But if you only want a full-sized one below a certain dollar figure, apparently there aren't really that many.

How about something different like PSA’s dagger? They are always on sale for $399 or less.

It isn’t sexy but you already have plenty of “side chicks” to cover that!

Why not a Girsan MC P-35? Last summer I went to visit a friend & we shot on his land. His neighbor came over & let me shoot some very nice rifles & pistols. One of the ones he let me shoot was a Belgian Hi-Power. The last time I went down & visited he let me shoot the Girsan clone. The trigger wasn't as nice as the one on the Belgian Hi-Power (I think he had done a trigger job on that one) but it was not bad. He was using it as his carry pistol.

Edited to add: It is within budget.

I'm on the RIA/TISAS bandwagon, too. But, if you have a 1911 already , then, maybe this is what you need:

SIG 2022

Right at your budget point, though.
The PX-9 by Tea-Sauce might be interesting.

(Don't have either of those, but remain sore tempted--that TISAS is US$300 at Bud's)
Ian McCollum is a big fan of the ARE Delta, if that's worth anything (I've yet to see on in the flesh)

Those are interesting. I'll have a look.

Hope to purchase something next week.

Bought a Dagger during the black friday sale this past year. And no.It works which is why its a dedicated room gun now. but it doesn't feel good in the hand and just feels gritty overall.

That said I have a couple RIA 1911's great guns. Currently looking at the Tisas 1911 in 10mm which is getting good reviews. But I would go Canik all the way for your price range. I own TP9EliteSC, TP9SFx and the SFX Rival-S. I would go with the TP9SFx. Full size, great triggers 20rd mags and under $600.

You already have my top choices: CZ 75B and SIG P229. You have several of my next choices too: Beretta 92, 9mm 1911, BHP. Hmm, how about a 1st to 3rd gen S&W auto? They made some beautiful guns that were good shooters. Get the P229's bigger brother the P226. It may take some looking, but if you like your CZ, how about the target oriented 75SA or the 85 Combat?

If I had the list of full sized 9mms you have, and only had $600 to spend, if I didn't want the old S&Ws, I'd probably go 9mm Kurz and find a used Beretta 84 or 85, a nice CZ 82 or 83 (possibly in 9mm Mak instead of .380), or possibly a Walther PPK.

Edit:
Oops, should have read the last few posts. I see you got something already. A SAA clone in 9mm, sounds interesting. Didn't even know they existed. I'd rather have one in a more traditional .45LC, or at least a traditional revolver caliber like .38/.357mag, but 9mm is a lot cheaper to shoot. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for one now.

I do have a 3rd gen S&W (915). I knew I had a lot of service pistols, but I didn't realize that so many of them are in 9mm.

Already had SA revolvers in 357 and 45. Cimarron and Taylor both sell 9mm SAA. If you shop around online you can find them in the low $500's NP.

Man, you've got a lot of the bases covered already.....
Theres the Jericho/Baby Eagle. Kinda derived from the CZ75 with a different twist.
Id throw out the FN 509 and Steyr M9 pistols too but I dunno if they different enough from what you have to be worth it.
Or, whattabout a Smith and Wesson 59 or 5906? Those two are definitely big toys for big boys, can still be found for 6ish with some patience.

If you really want a whole different shooting experience, you may have to step up the budget to include oddballs like the Luger, Broomhandle Mauser, H&K P7/P13, Steyr GB, Radom P35, Astra A600, Lahti, Walther P38/P1/P5/P88, Sig P210, or Benelli. View attachment 1157085

If I could, I would already have one. :)

Coming into some money and will order a 9mm barrel for my Sig 229 next week. Other than that, I might have 9mm pretty well covered. Unless/until I run across a full-sized DA 9mm revolver for a price I'm willing to say, which seems unlikely.
