Ammoman has nato 9mm for sale. Would it be good target-practice ammunition? I have heard that the nato 9mm is pretty hot. I have heard that shooting too much +P and +P+ ammunition would wear out or cause problems with a handgun. Would there be any problem shooting a large amount through a Walther P99 and a CZ PCR? Any guidance would be appreciated.

I don't know what pressures would be spec' for this ammo but would certainly consider it could be above std ... I am thinking of some Hirtenberger 9mm a while back, which turned out to be for smg and was ''generous'' to say the least.

I shoot stout +P thru my P95 but not much else .. and anyways with a large thruput even so - the gun does take that much more of a hammering. I'd buy with caution unless there are specific (and reliable) figures available.

I bought a bunch of that ammo from Ammo man. It is a little on the hot side, It chronoed @ 1099 fps average, from a 226ST. That's about 100fps slower then the 124gr +p loads I've shot.

9mm Nato is supposed to be 124+P FMJ, but as with all things Nato this varies. US M882 ball definitely good stuff. +P is more of a concern for small autos, but read your owners manual, it will say yes or no.

a little off topic but

Is the primer pocket crimped on this NATO spec stuff? I find the crimped primer pocket makes reloading a little difficiult. Thanks

tombo- did you buy the 9mm NATO ammo? How do you like it? I'm about to make a bulk purchase and was wondering the same thing myself.

Wait a sec, I've been shooting M882 Ball from my P226, and you guys are telling me that this stuff is +P? Or is that somehow different from what you're discussing here?

I've probably run about 200 rounds of M882 through my sig, and I have about 300 rounds left. Will this hurt my gun?

I have a new 226 and actually queried what diet was acceptable. Cslinger I think it was mentioned that the gun is designed to accept pretty much all available ammo including hotter stuff, which would cover +P.

I plan to use std pressure stuff in mine for IDPA but will also practice with some +P for carry purposes.

I don't think M882 is all that hot. IIRC, Stephen Camp lists it at around 1100+ fps in his Hi Power book. At 124 gr it is supposed to be slightly more accurate in a BHP which has (I think) a 1:12 twist.

Given that it's what the Army uses in their 92FS'es, and the 92s will last IIRC upwards of 30K rounds, I doubt it's that big of a deal. I just wanted to make sure.

I emailed Federal about its M882.

Q. What is the muzzle velocity for Federal M882 that is sold to the U.S.
Government?

A. Test Bbls run about 1230 fps.

Q. Is it greater than, less than, or the same as Plus P?

A. The M882 is greater than a +P.
