I know from talking to my wife and a friend's wife that you ladies are really not happy with most methods of CCW.

IWB is uncomfortable and requires you to dress less "pretty" ... OWB doesn't hide the gun ... fanny packs are tacky ... shoulder holsters are right out and ankle holsters don't work with skirts.

Well fans of Burn Notice may have noticed Fiona's stylish hip bag.

I know on at least one other forum a Burn Notice fan instantly saw the potential CCW utility here.

The bag may have been made by a little Australian company called Happy Cow (the cow is happy because their products are made from recycled leather) and can be seen here and another variation here.

While still not perfect, its better than carrying in a purse and looks better than a fanny pack. Maybe someone like Coronado should look into making one of these.

So instead of calling it a "fanny pack" just call it a "hip bag" and it becomes fashionable again. :neener: Somewhere a marketing person made big money on this one.

My wife loves to carry with her Galco thigh holster. The draw is fast (if not under a full-length dress), and the concealment is perfect.

Some poor would-be rapist might get something he didn't bargain for when she lifts up her skirt. At least he can say he died with a nice view :)

She carries IWB whenever she is wearing pants, and on the thigh with any skirt/dress. It ends up being about 50/50.

We are considering something exactly like the OP for the times when she wants to dress 'pretty,' in pants, and the IWB isn't able to work. That's pretty rare, but it's hard to say no when she wants something gun related. I just feel lucky instead of whining about the expense :)

there are some really cool ccw purses, large, small, leather, colors to match (I made the mistake of explaining guns to the women of the house, now its a fashion show) The key points of the ccw purses is, the gun fits into a compartment in the center of the purse, held closed with velcro, so she can open it, dump stuff out, the gun stays hidden. pushing into the center of the purse opens the velcro to reach the pistol. The shoulder strap is reenforced with a thin wire so it cant be cut. One model (rather large bag) has kevlar panels so once the weapon is drawn, the purse can be hung around the neck, rather like an umpire type chest protector for a make shift vest. As to price, same as most ladies options, dont ask, dont gripe when the cc statement comes in. They cost what they cost. http://www.holstersrus.com/index.php/cPath/336
