My EDC is an XD45 compact, carried at 3:30 IWB in a Milt Sparks VM II. Occasionally, I'll carry a model 442 J-frame in a Galco pocket holster, with spare rounds in an ammo wallet. Whether the 442 is a BUG or primary, it always rides in a support side pocket.

I practice with both reguarly. It is great to have the same, familiar rigs with me all the time, just about everywhere I go.

I've carried a Glock 20/21 for over a year, including heat index 100+
(I can't carry at work, illegal)
When I'm not at work, I always slovenly wear a loose untucked shirt which lends to concealment.

I voted for compact. This is the smallest pistol with ambi controls. I am left handed and want a slide release for fastest reloads.

Google it yourselves but that little lever is the fastest reload method. If it is too stiff (feel free to comment) a little stone work on the lever and we are good to go... The lever is a sacrificial part anyway.....

One vote shy of "We asked 100 men"...:) Thank you all for the info, unscientific survey, of course, but great fun. It is about what I expected, but thought there would be a few more mouse-guns and a few less full size sidearms.
Thank you to you all for your participation!

LW 4"-4.25" 1911. Once in a great while a Sig P938 or a Colt New Agent.

I'm retired, against my will, my daily dress is shorts, sandals, and a button up fishing shirt from Academy.

I carry two reloads and a knife.

Full/Duty size mostly as I can conceal almost anything with a loose tshirt or button down. Carry mostly at 2 o'clock.

When its extra hot I'll carry a subcompact (mostly Glock 26) appendix.

I have a number of carry guns, but the one that is ALWAYS in my pocket no matter what else I may be carrying/not carrying is an NAA Sidewinder .22 magnum. I generally have something larger on me, but not always and the little Sidewinder just kind of disappears in my pocket.

I also usually have a 9mm in the car that I can carry if the need arises It goes in and out of the house with me and has a secure place inside the car/truck.

Glock 26 in a paddle holster when I'm wearing my big boy pants.

Ruger LCP in a pocket holster in shorts and a t-shirt.

Which is pretty much most of the time in Florida.

I didn't vote (yet). I LIKE to carry a compact semi-auto (e.g., S&W 3913) or mid-sized revolver (e.g., 3-inch GP-100) and do so when it's not too hot to wear a sport coat or jacket. When dress allows, I'll even go so large as a Glock 23. But since moving to Texas, I'm finding the LCP sees more duty as it fits in a pocket easily. Does that put me in the mouse gun category?

Mine is a shield 40 with small mag to me the grip size is the deciding factor

MUST fit in my front trouser pocket. That's for CCW. For woods carry, anything which fits my waist bag, or front breast holster in locales which allow that.

Voted subcompact because I conceal carry an LCP or a CT380 95% of the time. The largest I'll carry concealed (in jacket) is my CW45...

Sort of. How big is too big? No, put the testosterone down, gents, talking about your sidearms. How big is too big for YOU to conceal? In your situation/required dress, what do you normally carry? I put in four choices to reasonably accommodate most choices, both auto and wheel gun, I believe.
I personally carry a full size duty pistol, either my CZ P-09 or SP-01 Phantom in a High Noon Holsters Close Encounter or Down Under, respectively, both mounted on a High Noon Rock Steady gunbelt.

Just curious. And would you kindly state what carry rig you are using, if you don't mind, because I firmly believe that is as important as the chosen firearm.

Thank you for your time, much appreciated.
I have divided my carry rotation into seasonal carry, cold weather and hot weather.

During the months of cold weather or anytime a jacket can/should/must be worn, I generally will carry a 1911 or GP100 Wiley Clapp. I carry them in a Wild Bill's Concealment Leather Speed Scabbard, on a Simply Rugged's Real Man's Gun Belt (my choice for all EDC uses).
Two spare 8rd 1911 mags in a DeSantis double mag pouch.
The GP100's HKS speed loaders carried in Safariland metal spring clip carriers and an extra speed strip carried in a Simply Rugged's Most Versatile Ammo Pouch.

Spring &Summertime: I usually wear a Guyaberra or other Third World leisure shirt (I cut quite the dashing figure in one if I don't say so myself...HAHAHA!!) I usually carry a CZP01 (or these days, a Walther CCP) or a S&W 386 Night Guard.
When carrying the P01, I'll have it in a Wild Bill's Speed Scabbard or a Kirkpatrick version of the Summer Special IWB. The CCP is in G&G's take on the Summer Special IWB or a Yaqui Slide. The 386 NG is in a Wild Bill Speed Scabbard or a simple Bianchi leather IWB.
I carry one spare mag for the P01 in a DeSantis clip-on single mag carrier.
The CCP in a very flat custom made leather double mag pouch originally made for my P5 back in the 1980's.
Spare ammo for the NG is the same as for the GP100.
-----------------------------------
As you can read, I'm very pleased with Wild Bill's Concealment Leather products and Simply Rugged's leather products.

One area I've found is absolutely essential to effective EDC is the belt. I've seen people spend a lot of effort into purchasing an excellent holster, only to put it on a guano belt.....A quality holster must be carried on a quality, purpose made belt!

I am under the VERY strong impression that for me [ and that is MY choice ].

I have not felt comfortable when I either needed a gun,or was danger close to that.

And had less than a compact and spare mags for any that I was EDCing.

To each their own,BUT promise that if your ever in that place ----- you will see my point.

I voted compact.
My EDC is my avatar gun, a Colt Defender 1911 .45acp 3" in a Don Hume IWB leather holster clipped on to a DeSantis 1 3/4" leather belt. Colt calls this a "Lightweight"(It's stamped on the right side of the slide) LOL, but the holster and belt handles it very well! Once in a while, I'll carry a Keltec P3AT.380acp.

Glock 43 or Smith .380 Bodyguard. A Beretta 21 works its way into my pocket on occasion. No full size guns for me. Need 100% concealment and I'm not a big guy.

I carry what I can depending on weather and what I'm doing.
Most of the time and especially now in the summer months I carry my LCP
Cooler and colder weather with jackets and coats it will be my Smith 36 or my Glock 27.

My normal attire is Carhartt work pants and t shirt. 442 in a Mika pocket holster works well. Colder weather or going out casual with an untucked button up over a t shirt and the M&P .45c rides in an alien gear IWB holster.

being a complete idiot for most of my younger years ( now i'm just simple minded). running around places i had no place being. doing things i shouldn't. I still managed to never get in a gun fight. a .38 two shot darringer works for me. jmho if i need two guns, extra ammo for each. a one handed opening knife, flash light , less than lethal option,..... then maybe i need to be somewhere else. BUT each to his own.
