I brought these home Saturday from the community garage sale. One is pretty fair quality, the other is just OK.
It's a Schrade / Uncle Henry Golden Spike. Old enough to be carbon steel, new enough to not have a serial number. It was pretty rusty and dull as dust. I took some steel wool and WD40 to it to clean it up, and sharpened it. It is now a razor. The stone is soft Arkansas. The sheath is perfectly serviceable and not at all brittle. Some of the stitching at the bottom of the stone pouch is missing but no big deal to me. The handle is pretty, but not real stag. It's an interesting knife and will be put in the truck door pocket.
This is an Imperial Ireland. Reading up on these, it seems they are later Imperial knives and not all that much. Still an interesting find and not like anything I already have.
I gave $35 for the Spike and $5 for the Imperial folder.
Good enough day to suite me.
