Good Morning out there! Like many of you, I’ve found myself w/way too much time on my hands this past year. This is a hybrid post: air rifle/22rf. I’m plagued w/ yard rats ( in my case, nightly raiding my Sunflower seed bird feeders. Colibri sans powder 22rf all but unavailable...& too loud for night-time rat-work. Pellet rifle too loud also.
Began experimenting w/22 pellets seated in a 22rf case. I’ve finally worked out the kinks in my project: I pull the 22 bullet, dump the powder, camfer the inside of the case mouth, roll the lower pellet bearing surface across the now sharp rf case mouth to remove said bearing surface and aid in the seating process, use a modified pair of pliers to seat the pellet...whisper quiet (as in the firing pin strike only)... and quite accurate at about 5 yards!
So far I’ve been using 22 Short to use in my Marlin 25S pump rifle. So far about 50 fired w/none stuck in the barrel. I plan to make some long rifle rounds for use in my Ruger 10/22 w/ red dot sight (will have to manually recycle the bolt).
So far, I most like using the plastic-skirted lead free pellets (as shown in the pic.).
Any thoughts out there?
