I've been using a Benjamin titan .22 to control chipmunk population in my yard. That and rat traps. I'd like to find a pellet pistol that can dispatch trapped critters instead of using the rifle. It's just too big to be discreet.
I'd prefer pump or piston vs co2...

Any recommendations?

Well, in my experience, pretty much any BB gun is lethal to such critters a typical city sized yard size (5,000 sq foot plot). Which means virtually anything you get ought to more than do the job for trapped critters, what with you shooting from point blank range.

Any spring piston BB pistol ought to do the job. Here are a few:

You're only looking at 200 fps, but again...dispatching little critters point blank shouldn't be a problem.

I would use lead pellets ONLY unless you can verify that you won't be shooting where the projectile might hit metal from the trap or a rock in the dirt. BBs ricochet as if they were rubber balls if they hit anything hard.

The 1377 is a decent choice for what you want.

I have used the 1377 for years to defend the garden etc... a 1322 for close range would also work fine . Would be a decent choice in the same cal as your rifle if you only have one pellet rifle might as well use the same pelletts- any pellet should work at that distance on a small critter like that

Amazon says can't ship the 1322 to my castle for whatever reason, so I'll be on the lookout for it while out and about. I think for 50 bucks it's the right choice. May have to order at WM and pick up in store.

Weird, Wally bass pro and others won't allow me to order this... I guess it's just way too dangerous for my area. . Lol... probably have to go thru pyramid or similar.

Check your state and local laws to insure there are no restrictions in your area on purchasing/shipping airguns. Given your area, it wouldn't surprise me to find that there are such restrictions.

Such restrictions are nearby, but not in my area. I ordered from pyramid no problem. Cost like 5 bucks more in the end, including shipping, no tax and a coupon code.

Funny thing, we went shopping at Walmart today and they have the 177 version in stock on the shelf. Their ammo case was also completely empty and the doors open... looks like that store has decided to stop selling ammo. That was the bloomingdale IL store on army trail rd.

I had the same problem with Wally World when trying to order 1377 on line. They would not ship to my local store for pick up but I went to the next town's Walmart and bought three off the shelf for rollback price of $34/ea. I figure before long they may not be selling them in Walmart. Also, 22 cal. airguns aren't sold in my state either. I couldn't get the steel breach for the 1377 from Walmart either but got one through Pyramid air.
