The area where this happened is a relatively upscale part of town and just gets you thinking. Yes, I have several guns and a CHL, but rarely ever carry.

If I were a criminal, I wouldn't practice my trade in the shabby end of town. I'd go where the take is likely to be higher.

As long as criminals have cars of their own, cars they can borrow, and cars they can steal, they're going to be here, there, and everywhere.

walt, any info on how the attacker gained access to the apartment? Any ideas why they were selected?

This is not too far down the road from where I live myself. Watching the news last night, they reported that this is just the latest in a string of home invasion style robberies perpetrated by the same group and strung out through Richardson, Garland, Plano and N. Dallas.

They mentioned the guy apparently has been hitting a place almost every day in the last week, sometimes alone, sometimes with others. They also mentioned that he appears to be escalating violent behavior with each incident as well and that the police are really keen on catching him.

She just finished surgery not too long ago, and she will have to return for four more reconstructive surgeries.

four more surgeries... sounds like she is still far from in the clear.
Prayers are still greatly needed. Since any form of surgery can be life threatening.

Although I'm sure its way too early to approach her with this yet. But it sounds like you have 6 women that need to be introduced to the concept of carrying for protection. I know it may or may not have helped in that situation. But if just one of those 6 women had the peace of mind to carry, the scumbag could either be sitting in a cell awaiting charges or in ICU in the same hospital as your friend.

Bart, the attacker knocked the door down (how I don't know). As far as the selection process, I do not know what was going through his mind when he chose their apartment.
