Back during the pandemic I got the urge for a stainless S&W .22/.32 kit gun. I bid low and high, losing out every time to some insanely high prices. There were winning bids on no box-no papers used guns well North of $1,200 in most cases. (Now they are back to under $850-ish, but I digress.) I put the idea out of my mind and bought a stainless Ruger 10/22 international and a blued 10” Mk IV for less than $750 shipped instead. (Thanks Buds!)
Still wanting a kit gun, I looked for months and in 2021 I finally found a very nice S&W Model 34, which is the blued version. It looked almost unfired and came with box and original receipt. Best of all it wasn’t stupid-bidded to the moon so I got it for a decent price.
I just got back from a 22-day trip down under and got the stack of mail from the mailman yesterday. In it was a priority mail envelope from someone I did not recognize. I opened it up, and in it was a very nice surprise.
Apparently the previous owner of the S&W had paid for a factory letter back in 2009. The letter wasn’t given to the Gunbroker seller (Sarah15 guns) with the gun when it was consigned so. It didn’t come with it when I bought it. The consigners apparently located the letter somewhere, got it to Sarah15 guns, who then went to the trouble of sending it to me in perfect shape over two years after I bought the gun.
These are the little things that give me faith in people out there, especially those in the gun industry who go the extra mile.
Stay safe.
