This has been an incredibly tough year for gun owners in the California Legislature. But we have not given up and we continue to defend our Second Amendment freedoms to the last moment of the legislative session and beyond.

We have seen several groups working together to protect these freedoms and a special THANK YOU and admiration is due to those groups and activists who participated in the NRA's OPERATION ROLLING THUNDER constituent contact program during these past few weeks.

As all of you who participated know, the NRA focused on a key legislator each day and members, activists, patriots, and other gun owners, contacted that individual's office throughout the day. This activity was an offshoot of the NRA Members' Councils' Focused Energy Method of legislative contact by gun owners throughout the state.

We all know someone who assisted us in this effort. Please take some time to THANK THEM for participating. If you know someone who didn't help with Operation Rolling Thunder, you might consider inviting them to join the team, so they will help when we do it again.

At the time of this Interim Report, we are still fighting SB53 and SB374 in the State Capitol.
Please continue to actively oppose these bills, so that we might be able to add these to our list of victories this year.

After the close of the legislative session, this evening, we will focus our efforts on urging the Governor to VETO any legislation that managed to get passed. Please be prepared to join with us in a coordinated effort to have our voices heard by the Governor.

More to come, soon..........

Help NRA Get Californians Connected with NRA's California Resources

Help the NRA expand its California network to keep all pro-Second Amendment Californians better informed about legislation in Congress, Sacramento, and locally that threatens your right to keep and bear arms, as well as developments in Second Amendment litigation and regulatory enforcement actions. Please forward this email to your family, friends and fellow gun owners, whether they belong to the NRA or not! Encourage them to sign up for California NRA's Stayed Informed e-mails here. And follow NRA through these additional connections:

Websites:
NRA-ILA, NRA-ILA California, NRA - ILA Legal Update, CalNRA.com, CalGunLaws.com, HuntforTruth.org

Facebook Pages:

LinkedIn: NRA's LinkedIn page, YouTube: NRA YouTube, Twitter: NRA Twitter, NRA-ILA Twitter, CalNRATwitter, CalGunLaws Twitter

The NRA recognizes that California is one of the most active Second Amendment "battleground states," so for decades NRA has devoted substantial resources to fighting for the right to keep and bear arms for Californians. The NRA has full-time legislative advocates in its Sacramento office fighting ill-conceived gun ban proposals. NRA coordinates a statewide campaign to fight ill-conceived local gun bans and regulations. And NRA has been litigating cases in California courts to promote the right to self-defense and the Second Amendment for many years. NRA's California legal team continues to work pro-actively to strike down ill-conceived gun control laws and ordinances, and to protect the Second Amendment rights of California firearms owners. For information about NRA's litigation efforts, see www.nraila.org/legal/litigation.aspx

Keep up the good fight! The only thing necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.

Good luck!

I was dancing like a little girl this morning when I got my email. I'm so happy so many of these bills went down. There are several bills going to the governor now, but so far this is a major victory.

Now we need to convince the governor to veto the semi-auto ban (which I'm predicting he will), to veto the Cow Palace bill (which I'm thinking he will), to veto the hunting ammo ban (which I'm predicting he'll afirm) and to veto the repair kits bill (which I think he'll sign).

Anyway, this was a major victory today, but we still have a lot of letters to write to Moonbeam.

You know, Texas enjoys a bit more liberty in the 2A realm, but y'all sure do seem extremely well organized and motivated. I'm a bit ashamed to admit that as Texans, we might be a little complacent. We don't really dig down and give our TSRA lobby the backing it deserves.

Good for y'all, not taking it lying down!

The only reason I think so many failed was that the ca politicians took note of what happened in the recall in Colorado.

I'm really happy about the results. I chipped in, but was pessimistic given the history of our legislature.

It's frustrating to be born in this state, that has basically been ruined by invaders from back east. Then as a resident, I get lumped in with them. :cuss:

Jdub3,
I feel your pain, being a native and seeing the Carpet Baggers move into CA and bring their eastern trash way of life here and then screw up CA and move on is sickening. The bad part is that a lot of them are still here and in power. The Dems have been screwing up CA for at least the last 30 years, so they have no one to blame but the voter's that keep putting them back in office.

They love letting illegals come into CA as they're indoctrinated into Dems as soon as they cross the border. Now they're giving them drivers licenses, so that'll keep them voting Democrates in. Let's not forget all the free money, medical.... That they get for being here illegally.

Anyway, let's keep our fingers crossed that ole moonbeam keeps putting the veto stamp on their BS.
