A modern 9mm levergun, yes you read this correctly

I’m not so sure about 9mm but I would be down for a peppy pistol cal. The 10mm, 357, 41 mag power range is great for a lot of things but the offerings are few and very much similar. Make something that is functionally similar to a marlin 62 but hopefully a lot easier to work on and build. I’m a mini action savage 99 in AR15 calibers would also be very interesting but I suspect a small (as in not quite mini but smaller than standard) 99 action that would easily have the 308 based rounds would also hold the ar15 calibers and various rimmed cartridges, so it would be more likely to be a financial success due to its versatility.

And yes it’s kinda odd to be talking about modern guns and looking back to a design introduced 100 years ago. But such is the case, forgotten technology becomes new and exciting technology when it is rediscovered.

The thingamajig shown… hard pass.

I read about it last night in Firearms News magazine. Seems like a decent idea, especially those who are trapped in areas that make semi auto ownership difficult.

The reviewers seemed to like the idea and the way the gun performed. I bet if it were a 10mm, so it had a bit more oomph, it would make a handy camping gun for all around use. :)

I am surprised they didn’t go with Glock-pattern magazines, though. That magazine compatibility factor was huge when I bought my PC9, I wouldn’t be surprised if the “proprietary magazine only” design kills off a lot of potential sales.

I’ve witnessed multiple “designated marksman”
POF rifles being shot at the range. Always having feeding issues and needing to be worked on. No thank you to this lever gun!

I totally agree. That thing is a descendant of a lever action that survived Chernobyl.
A Savage 99 ish action for mini cartridges would be great. With new powder technology. It's easy to mimic the capability of the 250-3000, and 300 Savage in AR length cartridges. So the only thing you would give up is length and weight.
I would drop a grand on a 92 clone that fired 9mm, 40, or 45 from a tube magazine.
I don't know if the magazine can be modified to make it happen though.

If that was a pump. It would be better.
The beard and flannel go with lever action.
The type of sunglasses, Magpul stock and stock mag are from a completely different photo op.
It's like country rap music. It just doesn't work for me.

In a former life, Ranger Point, made conversion lever actions in a variety of ‘auto’ cartridges…9mm, 40, 45 ACP, etc. Sadly, they move into building parts….still good stuff, but not auto cartridge lever guns….

I imagine this is aimed at restrictive markets like California, New York, Massachusetts, ect… but if you were going to buy a lever action for a defensive firearm, why in the world would you want it to be a 9mm? This is just collage of bad ideas and the price point is absolutely bonkers.

I wouldn't buy that for $200 bucks. But that said, I see a lot to like conceptually. A horse designed by a committee is a camel, and that applies here too I think. It's ugly, but it's starting to hammer down some concepts. I like a non semi auto for a lot of jobs. Locked breach for suppressor use is a plus. And I like the idea of a removable mag, but a less protrusive mag is in order. That rail is way too snag worthy, but might actually line up sights pretty well. A cludge, but at least it's trying to accomplish some things. Kinda wondering of some of us should just design a good lever gun and market it...

Well, I wanted the Red Ryder AR Levergun because it was an AR.
And this I want to dislike, but I don’t!:D

It absolutely is something so ugly, it’s gorgeous!
It’s like that Czech super model who is basically a chihuahua with eye dysplasia, but is still super hot. It doesn’t make sense, yet it is.

All are fine technical points that I agree with above…
Mismatched fastener heads from a production company as substantial as POF smacks of using up spare parts.
A proprietary magazine, that is not double stacked, for a 9mm cartridge better have a darn good reason behind it.
It’s a nine to be a Nine Millimeter LeverGun. I get it. But I hope they didn’t castrate it out of the gate and preclude the use of longer auto cartridges. Nine is fine, but if it were fourty five it’d be mine.

POF has always been proud of their products, if I had made the first 9mm levergun, with matching fasteners, I would be proud too. But I don’t know how many actual levergun fans are going to be $2,000 proud to own a 9mm 10/22 levergun.:scrutiny:

Actually, when described like that, it’s even more endearing! Ruger would hate that!:) I’m sending them a screen shot of this thread. I think Ruger can do it better, with the same quality control;) as POF.

I honestly think it will be a great success if it can be stand alone reliable. You know, like a real lever gun. I imagine with modern processes that all these parts could drop in just as well as an AR. Probably not as fun to build though. I see these as an older lever, bought from the factory and rarely changed. But that could change too.

However, thanks @NIGHTLORD40K. Now I can’t un-see those dang screw heads!

Hmm. I guess I still like Camels anyway!:D
