Verily!

Verse 12 would seem to be appropriate...

*ahem*

Then seeing that the eyes of man were slowly being opened and that man was truly sorrowful for his sinful misdeeds, the Lord did send his messengers in the form of artisans who did hear and obey the teachings of the prophet and who didst restore the profaned 1911s to their proper configuration, and lo, to the amazement of men they didst begin to work as the prophet had intended.

:neener:

Amen!

That would make you the prophet then 'aye' Johnny? :)

I almost strayed, I started to "trick out" one of my G.I. models.... but instead I'm now amassing USGI parts for them both, right down to the Keyes grips ;).

6 And it came to pass that the Lord didst see the abomination wrought by man and didst cause, as he had warned, fearful malfunctions to come upon the abominations and upon the artisans who thought they could do no wrong.

HEED the warning you Bean Counters, Litigation Lowlifes, and Flowered Shirted Gun writers.

Stop with the inferior parts to save a nickel. Stop with the consumer doing the beta testing. Stop with the need for keys and other stuff to protect us from ourselves. And Somebody toss the Flowered Shirted Writers Volleyball out in th Ocean - I noticed the Shark warning flag is displayed...

Or thou shall be stricken with a guy driving a really big boat fast parting the seas, and two of each critter will be scattering locusts all over you...I forget where the whale part comes in....I think I went for another cookie and grape Kool-aid about the time the Sunday School teacher was getting to that part....

Cute, but silly.

But I do like SM's contribution:
"Stop with the inferior parts to save a nickel. Stop with the consumer doing the beta testing."

On another board, a couple of technoids are busily debating which extra high quality steel, titanium, or aluminum alloy they should get to scratch build a frame for a really nice pistol. I fear they are going to have the deck chairs very well arranged while they waste their efforts by using commodity internals that will not outlast a cast carbon steel frame.

And we are told that Kimber's fourth generation external extractor works really well. FOURTH generation in mass production and public sale.

 fourth Generation....

Damn, they couldn't show their employees how to set 'em up (internal extractors) and now their machines are bein' stubborn :uhoh: Could be the second coming :what: !?!

The Old Fuff has seen this piece of scripture before, and enjoyed it greatly. We live in a time when many see “new as better,†even though most things that are new seem to be designed so they can be made cheaply. Where gun companies used to be run by businessmen they are now controlled by bean-counters. They are driven by the creed that what ever it is, there is some way to cut the cost here and there. :cuss:

John Browning’s fine pistol has not been immune from this trend, but fortunately there are a lot of earlier examples to satisfy the most demanding among us. And Tuner, who is a true Prophet, has shown us that some of today’s better production can be rebuilt and restored to satisfactory status by the substitution of a few quality parts and a little tweaking here and there.

100 years ago Colt and Browning introduced they’re first commercial .45 pistol, the model 1905. Six years later that pistol’s successor, the model 1911 was adopted by this country’s military services, and as all know – it is still with us today, and more popular then it ever was. I wonder if the current generation of “modern†pistols will be able to match that record?

I once listened to a Professor of Criminology make the comment - criminals are not wired like normal folks. If criminals spent the same time and effort on honest pursuits - they could be rich.

Seems to me these Mfg's could learn some things - History is a great teacher.

So concerned about the "bottom line" , they spend monies , such as Hours billed by attorneys, and accountants to "save money". They force the older experienced folks to retire and hire the younger folks, for less monies.

One of our BEST natural resources are our Older Members of Society - I really believe this.

Sometimes the older folks get called back in to teach the younger ones only which comes from just living longer and experiencing more things - Sometimes they do get paid a "Consultant Fee" - which is good, sometimes a handsome fee indeed.

Can't help but wonder - Build the stuff right the first time, with quality parts and attention to detail.

You can afford to better do so if not paying for all them Billable hours...

A LOT of tool steel extractors can be had for what one attorney bills for one hour now-a-days.
