I'm thinking an AR-15 in the new 6.8mmSPC cartiridge would be a great all around home/ranch defense, wild pig and mule deer gun. An American made AR-15 with only a 10 rd mag, flash suppressor but no bayonet lug just might be politically correct enough to get taken off the AW list. Now I know it's easy just to laugh and say "move to _____________" but I'd really love to hear from Mr. March and others on this, do you think this could ever happen in California?

yer a little late to the ball

your legislature buttoned up AR15s in CA with the Roberti Roos act

now you could get a fixed mag, break open AR like firearm
El Rojo built one with a fake mag

but AR15s are banned by name and features in CA

There was some proposals in CA to take the AR off the prohibited list, provided you did not own any magazines >10 rounds. Don't know what became of it.

The answer: NO

Just move to a free state. A lot of people are moving right now. Before the next federal ban happens.

Carp Killer, it is the prevelant attitude like yours on this board that irritates me so. Don't take this personal, you aren't the only one.

Here it is, so many people tell us to move out of California. Get out of that hell hole. Yada yada yada. What people ought to be doing is trying to win California back! We have 55 electoral votes, 53 Members of the House of Representatives, and 2 Senators. Why on earth do you freedom loving people of this nation want to create a haven for the liberal mindset? Who was out front in the fight to get the AWB renewed? Dianne Feinstein! How long do you want her to continue to get re-elected and for her to try and bring her utopian ideals out of California to the rest of the barbaric United States of America?

If you want to be thankful for your freedom and rights, great. However, realize everytime you encourage a good conservative to move out of California, you shoot yourself in the foot. Think long term. California is a big problem for the rest of the country. All of the stupid ideas in this nation get dreamt up in California. If we don't retake California sooner or later, this liberal sickness is going to spread. I am already used to it here. I have been living with it. However, think of all of the horror stories you hear coming out of California. If you don't want to experience them yourself, you better hope something changes here. The 33 Democrat Members of the House and our two lovely Senators will die before they stop trying to spread our great utopian ideals to you uncivilized heathens of archaic old America.

If you want to prevent the next federal ban, you aren't going to do it by having more conservatives move to arleady conservative states. You need to win places like California in order to stop our slide down hill.

I have a FAB10 it has been reliable and well made. I have older ARs but don't want the wear and tear all the time and I shoot all over the area and some have rules about AWs like 10 round only and no rapid fire so 10 rounds is plenty and it cools off while open to reload. Also it is not subject to the ban so what was fed preban stuff like collapse stock and flash hiders are fine although not on preban california stuff if that makes any sense. If I got the cali ban right I can't alter my preban rifles if they did not have the object of the ban before the ban. I use an RRA arms flat top on the FAB10 mostly with a EOTech sight as it is short barrel. It is the most fun you can currently have. :)

I don't take it personal.:) Just trying to let the poster know how to get an AR. Legally. Maybe I shouldn't have pointed out the trend of people moving. Sorry.

_______________

I know how you feel and sorry. I loved the beauty of California. The desert, the mountains, the beaches. I could find places to camp for a week at a time and not see anyone. I gave up and left. Reasons.

The outrageous gun laws.
Taking liberal Supreme Court Judges out of retirement to counter the will of the people.
Health Care burdened by illegal aliens.
Taxes.
Housing cost.
Traffic.
More Taxes.
Way too left for me.

Oh Yea. The ghost voting was a nice touch.

WOW. I cannot believe that in all my time on various forums (and in my whole life in CA) that I never thought of that.

Indeed; we do have huge political clout in America; if anything, gun owners should be moving HERE so that we can get this state straightened out!!!

:cuss:

+1 for El Rojo.

You took the logic out of my head and the words out of my mouth. I couldn't have said it better.

California is an abolute political and economic force to be reckoned with. This state needs as many of the good guys as we can get, not lose.

To answer the original post:
The Fab-10 is the readily available politically correct solution for this state.

El Rojo,

All of the stupid ideas in this nation get dreamt up in California. If we don't retake California sooner or later, this liberal sickness is going to spread.

This used to be true, even as recently as ten or fifteen years ago. Not any more.

Don't kid yourself: other states out here in "flyover country" look to CA as an example of what not to do these days.

You may not have noticed, but while almost every other state in the nation is passing new CCW laws, liberalizing already-existing CCW laws, repealing one-gun-a-month laws, and suchlike, you guys are passing stricter gun laws.

Businesses aren't fleeing Tennessee because of crazy regulations. Texas zillionaires aren't establishing residences in other states to escape confiscatory taxation. "But California subsidizes cheap guns for all you folks in other states!" Uh-huh. If it weren't for all the California gunnies, Bushmaster would go under, right? :scrutiny:

Your defense is noble, but don't kid yourself on your reasons. CA and some northeastern states are drifting in one direction, and the rest of the country's drifting in another. I don't know where this process will wind up, but it won't result in UT or SC copying their gun laws from Sacramento's playbook.

Tamara you are looking at the sickness spreading from a state law stand point. The state laws in other states cannot change unless the people of that state allow it, we know that. However, a persuasive Senator or House Member can influence federal legislation that effects us all. If you want to reduce the chance of some wacko liberal federal representative from persuading the middle of the road all across the county, you either need to have enough counter votes or better yet, you just plain get them out of office. We will not vote Feinstein or Boxer out of office if we don't get some reinforcements. You can't withdraw from the state and then re-attack. You have to be here in order to vote people out of office here. If you move, why in the hell would you want to move back? For the people who choose to move out and are happy elsewhere, I respect that. I just find it annoying that people who don't live here or have never lived here just think the answer is to move. They are ignoring the problem and possibly making it harder on themselves later on.

As far as gun laws go, sure we have some bad ones. I also happen to have my CCW and I am only a teacher and not a big donor to the democratic party. There are some good things about this state.

The Founders were very wise in ensuring that each state got two Senators, no matter what its population, weren't they? :)

Dianne Feinstein can piss and moan all she wants; we have Bill Frist, and Bill has the gavel. :D
