In a lot of the Open Carry threads I see quite a few comments about hassles from LEOs even though open carry is legal. Now if you have broken no law and the LEO hassles you then why not bring harrasment charges against the agency? Communities don't have the resources to combat a lot of these charges in court so the powers to be should make a decided effort to inform the LEOs of the law. A seemingly simple solution to what should be a non existant problem.

Just my opinion but it may be that most LEO's encounter mostly BG's with guns. This may skew their thinking when seeing a firearm in view in public. ( not near a shooting range) Who knows, you could be planning something illegal, and it's thier job to investigate abnormal or suspicious activity so as to prevent violence and mayhem. I mean think about it. If you saw me (T-shirt, jeans, beard, non professional looking person) walking into a mall or a grocery store with a 1911 strapped to my leg wouldn't you watch me a little closer?

No I wouldn't watch you any closer than anyone else. Open carry is not that unusual around me. I just generally look to see what kind of handgun you have out of curiosity.

If you drove a Mustang Cobra, Covette, or Dodge Viper should you get pulled over because you could potentially speed or cause a high speed accident? If it's their job to investigate then they could follow you in the store and watch you. If no crime is committed then their job is done without bothering the public.

+1 to what littlmak said

comparing fast cars to guns is borderline ridiculous. Fast cars are socially exceptable, guns (right or wrong) when seen in public make most people very nervous.

If I was a LEO seeing some dude go in a store with a gun would probably cause me great concern.

Conceal carry is the only way to be armed in public, imho

Personally, when I see someone carrying openly I assume they must be basically a law abiding citizen since felons aren't allowed to have guns, regardless of how they look. I am much more concerned with someone wearing inappropriate, for the season, heavy baggy clothing.
