I have owned several Remington 1100s since my first, a 12 ga. with which I took up skeet shooting, in 1974. I have always loved these guns.
Remington recently sold, on sale prices, fully rifled deer barrels ideal for shooting slugs. I grabbed one in 21" length with nice sights at a great price. I assumed it would be a drop-in that could be used with the 1100's forend. I discovered that my 28" vent rib barrel was a "light contour" and that, accordingly, the forend was channeled too narrowly to accommodate the new barrel which has a standard contour.
I solved that problem by buying a new Rem 1100 forend from Numrich which will need to be relieved in order to fit. It is at my gunsmith's for this work.
I mention this here in case any here try the same approach to an easy conversion of a Sporting or Field 1100 into a tactical shotgun.
Cheers,
Harry
