I like the the .410 / .45 LC revolver concept as created by Taurus...just not too crazy about Taurus itself! :uhoh:

Does any one think Smith might come out with such a model????

I'm not good at prediction but I would hope they don't.

Taurus has tapped into a little niche market with that thing and they're riding it for all it's worth. Bless 'em. Free market and all that. But the thing is now identified with Taurus. They weren't the first but they were likely the first that anyone noticed.

If S&W simply jumped on the bandwagon with something real similar, it'd be greeted with less enthusiasm than a S&W 1873 SAA replica. Cries of "copy" would (justifiably) abound.

And it'd cost more. I just can't picture many folks lining up to pay 200.00 more for a S&W copy of a Taurus product. It inverts my reality.

But...
Maybe just load up a shot cup in .460 Brass. That'll give you .45 Colt, .454 Casull, .460 Magnum and homebrew shotshell from the netherworld in one handy .460XVR. Maybe they'll con Federal into some foreshortened overpressure "S&W Only" shotshell rounds? Voila - instant "Judge", and about as practical.

I don't see S&W doing it. It would require a completely new frame (well, unless they put it in an X frame, it sure wouldn't work with their existing J, K/L, or N frames), which would cost a great deal to design and produce for what is essentially a niche revolver. I'm not sure that they'd make enough on them to be worth the trouble, if not be a financial loss.

I have the Taurus in an Ultralite, and I like it just fine. The fit and finish are very good, and the trigger has a nice smooth action to it. Loaded, it's about the same weight as my Glock 26.

There are many things it isn't, but for "up close and personal" self defense, I sure would not want to be standing in front of it.

Don't think so ... Smith is very risk adverse and there are other (more powerful) cartridges that can be chambered and fired in the 45/410 setups

And about the "locks" ... last time I checked the "Judge" had a lock on it :D
