If you want to get people's attention, bring a CZ-452 to an air rifle match. It's OK, though, I was invited to bring it (the property owner has a nice 150 yard range set up and is known to shoot a few powder burners himself, and I was dying to sight in and shoot the new rifle. The weather (near Charleston SC) was blustery and the wind swirling a bit this morning.

When I walked a new target out to the 100-yd mark, it drew some good natured ribbing from my air gun buddies, since the only air rifle I brought to the shoot was my CZ-634, a .177 cal springer that shoots a blazing 730 FPS with JSB Exacts, 8.3 grain, and it was scoped with a BSA 2-7X 32mm AO scope. But it does have a very nice trigger, after a bit of work by one of my air-gun tuning buddies, as well as a hammer-forged barrel and a locking breech -- not something you find on most break barrel air rifles these days.

OK, so I stuck a half gallon milk jug on a stick out to the side of the target at 100 yards and picked up my CZ-634 and started plinking pellets down range until I could hear it popping the milk jug. About a 4-ft hold over. Then I lined up on the target with a 4-foot hold-over, and shot (lobbed) a 10-shot group at 100 yards with the pellet rifle. Not too shabby for an 8.3 grain pellet in the wind with 7X 32mm scope. Now I got to do a bit of good natured ribbing

Next I shot a 10-shot group with the brand new CZ-452 scoped with a Bushnell Trophy 6-18X 40mm AO. Must say that the factory trigger on the CZ-452 is a far cry from the 3/4 oz. pull on the air rifle. I was shooting Winchester 17HMR 17 grain V-Max. I was very pleased and know this little rifle can do a lot better once I practice a bit more and lighten the trigger, particularly if the wind isn't blowing like it was this morning. CZ certainly makes great rifles at popular prices. The CZ-634 was $150 new (less than a year ago), has a $20 muzzle brake, and a $50 scope -- but holds it own with any of high the end air rifles for sure. And I love the new CZ-452 17HMR! What a great little target/varmint rifle
