[A Tribute To] The **GLOCK 27**

I have bought and sold 2 Glock 27s over the past few years and I just bought my 3rd G27 a few days ago. It is brand new, with the first factory round fired on January 8th, 2009.

I have been through so many Concealed Carry Handguns that I have lost track of them...Glock 19,23,17,22,27, Sig P239, Colt Python 2.5" Stainless Steel Revolver, Kahr MK40 Elite 2003, S&W 640, 642 with CT Grips...the list goes on and on... and it all finally comes down to this: I have finally learned my lesson:

I am sticking with the Glock 27!

The Glock 27 is my personal favorite CCW, and IMO, is the most effective pistol ever created for its niche. I use a Pearce +1 grip magazine extension and it feels rock-solid in my hand. I installed a set of XS Big Dot Night Sights on it and I LOVE them. They are my new top choice for CCW sights. I purchased a Crimson Trace Laser Grip for my G27 and I find it very functional and handy.

I use Double Tap 155gr. .40 S&W Self-Defense ammunition (Ballistics : 155gr. @ 1275fps / 560 ft/lbs - Glock 23 - 4.0" barrel).

I originally purchased a Glock 36 to carry, but have recently chosen to instead carry a Glock 27 as my Primary CCW.

THIS IS WHY I CHOOSE TO CARRY THE GLOCK 27 OVER THE GLOCK 36:

Yes, if I had my choice, I would hit someone with a .45 230gr. Speer Gold Dot JHP from Double Tap Ammunition.

However, I much prefer 10+1 rounds of .40 S&W (with .19" less expansion) over 6+1 rounds of .45 ACP... and that is, remember, my opinion. The Glock 27 provides me 4 more chances to hit a vital organ/spine/CNS/brain compared to the 6+1 rounds carried in the Glock 36.

Then again, you could always carry a Glock 29 and get these ballistics:

165gr. 10MM Speer Gold Dot JHP @ 1400fps - 14.25" / 1.02" (Yes, that is over an inch of expansion!)

Why wouldn't you go with a laser max instead of the crimson trace. I have the laser max in my G26 and love it. The crimson trace seem to make the pistol much more bulky and it is on the side, not centered under the barrel. Is there something I am missing?

The only way I can answer the above questions is to say:

I am very satisfied with my current setup. It works for me. That's all I can say =)

It's all about what works for you. I carry a revolver snub .357, yeah it's only six shots of hydrashock, but the idea is to train one's self to only need one, and be sure with two. I've contemplated getting a 27 but I like the 29 better. If I get into Glocks this is what I want

Glock 22 (with conversion barrels in 9mm and .357 sig, to be primarily carried in 9mm for that "put a lot of lead in the air" gun)
Glock 29 (with conversion barrel in .40)
and Glock 20 (leave the 10mm alone)

I've always been impressed by the so-called "40 Short & Weak". Sure, I'm more of a .45acp fan myself and carry a 9mm (K9) the majority of the time, but without a doubt, the .40S&W has potential and plenty of merit!

Are you the guy who has pics floating around the web (google images/thefiringline.com specifically) with the H&K P2000sk and brown/black shark trim VM2? That black belt and your skinny frame look really familiar to me...what kind of belt is that btw? It looks nice.

I used to have a few Glocks, a g27 being one of them. It was a good gun for its purpose, but the .40s&w was a bit much for such a small and lightweight gun. I sold it to my cousin (almost NIB) for $350 just to hook him up and he says he'll never carry anything else. I also don't think a .40s&w round is any more effective than a good 9mm JHP for that matter, especially from shorter barrels...JMO though. I eventually grew out of my Glock stage and moved on up to H&Ks I shoot them much better and think they are much nicer guns overall, but again that's just my opinion. I've settled on a P2000sk 9mm (LEM) as my carry gun, after going through several just like you did.

Don't take it personally, but I'm not a fan at all of that Lasergrip on your Glock, or the rubber grip on your Kobra Carry. IMO lasers are overrated (unless you have older eyes from what I hear) and the Lasergrips do nothing but bulk up your Glock for almost no real benefit other than to have them. You should never rely on a laser for self-defense considering you can't even see the dot in broad daylight.

I do, however, think you have great taste in holsters w/ those VM2s! Don't know about that crotch-carry though. Especially with a Glock...yikes! A gun with a hammer allows you to verify nothing has snagged the trigger when holstering it. Shoving a loaded Glock in a holster while it's pointed straight at your nads is a terrible, terrible idea. It's only a matter of time until you blow off your nuts man!

(I don't mean for any of my comments to be offensive..I'm just throwing in my 2 cents. I'm glad you found something that works for you..but I was being serious about the crotch-carry.)

Just recently purchased a G27. So far, this seems to be the CCW for me also. I may purchase a G26 for my wife....

Regarding appendix carry:

1) How in the world do you come up with the notion that you can somehow STOP a hammer from falling if the trigger is snagged?
2) What are trigger guards for?
3) ALWAYS holster slowly and carefully. Nobody ever won a fight with a speed reholster.

I went for the G27 as well, with Pearce +1s, too. I switched to a LaserMax, though, as I tend to pocket-carry and the Laser Grip didn't look right for pockets.

There are a few other guns that I use for CC, but the G27 is my preferred garry.
