Course- Fundamental Handgun
Date- 6/22/13
Taken at CCC Security Range Cresson Texas
Given by Stephen Pineau with M3 Strategies

This was the first training that I have taken other than what I have picked up on my own.* Was not sure what I was in for, but wanted to take my shooting up a notch. I choose this training over others for a few different reasons. First, the length of the training most others that I looked at where 4-6 hours, this course was set at 10 hours.* Second was rounds needed for the course; most that I looked at only used about 100-200 rounds this course was 350-400 rounds.* 200 rounds may have been enough but I was taking the course to learn more about shooting and to get better to me the only way to do that was to shoot.* I did see my shooting getting better as the day goes on.

To start the class Stephen talked about avoidance, deterrence, de-escalation and different ways to try and get out of bad situations and not just go to the gun. Did not think that we would hit on this subject again after the opening lecture. Boy, was I wrong; this came back in a great drill later in the class. I had never thought to train on this type of thing.* This drill really forced you to think and break old “training habits”. At least I was not the only one to fire at a time he threw us a curveball. He really did mix it up in many different ways to keep you on your toes.

We also focused very much on fundamentals. Like what controls accuracy ie, trigger control, sight alignment. As well as how grip and stand helps with recoil management. This was a big focus all day as we shot he would always be looking to try and help with grip or stance. As much as some of the drills what about speed he still stress that speed is no good with out accuracy “make the shoots count”.

At the end of the day we get to Malfunction Mayhem as he calls it.* This drill does its best to break you down with malfunctions that you have to clear. By the end of this drill it almost feels natural as what to do when a malfunction occurs.

Stephen was very approachable in asking questions. He covered everything so well in lectures that we did not have many questions but he would keep trying to get us to ask them. He was very open and honest you can see he has such a passion for the craft and wants to give everyone his knowledge and experience.* I feel that he does every thing he can in his drills to teach what he has learned over the years.* I look forward to working on what I was taught and getting ready to take more of his courses.

I would like to end by saying thanks to Stephen for a great course and truly understand the phrase "Sharpen the blade".
