Ac went out.

I finally got something going today as it was going to be 98 plus humidity with a heat index of 115ish. It was ugly, but finally the house is cooling down. 14,000 btu and I plan on closing all the doors except my bedroom. Might not be as cool as central air but if I can kill the humidity and take 10 degrees out of the house things should be much better... 16914602370058321575942749747561.jpg

We call those root cellars indoor pools, don't about where your at, my water table start at 3 feet.
Same thing here! Call it what you want, basement, cellar, ect. If you have one here you need a sump and a sump pump. And they all smell damp and moldy. They work ok in the Northern part of the State where its hilly, but not in the Delta!

When I was a kid here in northern Virginia we had one window unit in my parents’ bedroom (no surprise). The rest of the house was cool enough I guess cause we all survived.

I tried to put it in my window, closest to the powder, but it was to wide. Now it's in the living room. At the end of the day, saving the powder a 20 degree change daily I think is winning even if 80 isn't optimum.

I remember dad coming home with a window unit when I was a kid, also in Northern Virginia. I didn't even know what air conditioning was back then. He put it in the living room so everyone could enjoy it.

Glad you at least got AC. It was 63* here this morning when I went to work at 9:30. It's nice, but winters can be a little rough.

IMO 80° isn't bad for smokeless powder. I store my powder and primers in my basement where my reloading bench is. It's usually around 75° in the summer. I have a dehumidifier because it's absolutely necessary in my area. I have never had a problem with components in that environment over the past 18 years or so since I moved here.

It was 76F at 5AM here. By 5PM it will be 95F and 57% humidity. This has been a very mild August. Usually we’re in the triple digits temperature wise and close to 70% humidity by 3PM. If it’s not raining.
Keep your powder cool and dry.

I did a consulting gig in Philadelphia back in ‘98. It ran from early June through the first part of August. It felt more humid than here in north Florida! Miserable. I don’t know what the temperatures were or how humid it was but it felt like Panama up there.

Everyone has worst story. Mine is New Orleans in September in the 80s sometime. A group of us FBI folks chartered a plane to see the Skins vs Saints.

Got there after work about 9pm Friday. Big sliding doors of NO terminal opened to the bus area and we were hit by the muggiest air I’ve ever felt in USA. Things went downhill from there.
