Yep this is true. I worked at an Academy store in Waco. My manager told me this rule, and even he knew it was stupid but he said it had to be enforced. I didnt ever distinguish between 18 and 21 when showing a long gun, and certainly didnt follow the
"21 to look at Assault Rifles" rule. Pure BS. In my opinion, the law takes priority over some corporate rule, and besides it was a summer job.
For what its worth, the same "21 and up" rule also applied to the Beretta Storms that Academy would periodically have in stock, as well as the Carbon 15 rifles.
