But ultimately cars are the bigger threat - and you don't see anybody getting up in arms and saying cars should be banned.
But there's a vocal and fervent group of people who do want to see guns banned, and a lot of fence sitters who listen to sound bites. "There are two types of shooters. Those who have had an ND and those who will have an ND... it will happen eventually" is a tailor-made sound bite for the anti-gun lobby.
Does anybody go through life without one? Sure. Does anybody go through life without a car accident? Probably.
So you don't say,"There are two types of drivers. Those who have had a crash and those who will have a crash... it will happen eventually."
Then why say it with firearms when it can be used to convey an erroneous perception of negligence that works to destroy our gun rights?
Once again, I certainly respect where the saying is coming from, just not how it comes across when said that way.
