Has anyone tried one of these? If so, what's your opinion on them? I once had an AK with ACE skeleton stock and it seemed like a quality piece of equipment, so I am a bit tempted to try one of these.

never tried one but it looks great thats for sure. It with the smooth handguards make it look like a galil or something. Id love to do that with a SLR-105 or something.

How does a shorter sight radius help one to rapidly aquire alignment?

How does a shorter sight radius help one to rapidly aquire alignment

I always thought you got quicker but more coarse alignment with a shorter radius, and better accuracy but slightly slower alignment with the longer radius. At any rate this usually compares the open AK/SKS sight to the peep found on the AR's/Garands/M1A's.

Smince is right, the finest example is the handgun which gets on target faster than pretty much any rifle. The obvious tradeoff that Smince mentioned is also correcta and the handgun analogy applies here as well.
