The ACLU has done some good work on behalf of the 2A and gun owners when it fits their perception of what gun rights should be.
What they feel are “reasonable” restrictions on gun rights, I do not. I disagree with them strongly on that.
Most people (outside gun forums) that criticize the ACLU do so because of the ACLU’s stance on the separation of church and state and their views on privacy rights versus “national security.”
They also disagree with the the ACLU because the people the ACLU represent are simply not people they like very much. Well, just based on gun rights many people don’t like us much either.
Everyone likes to rag and even rage on social justice warriors, but when they feel under attack themselves for their gun rights or their other liberties, they become social justice warriors in their own regard. “I can’t believe those evil so-and-sos are out to get my guns or make me bake a cake for left handed, blue-haired marsupials!”
