On a closed thread, @Anchorite suggested "I’m going to be the first to take credit for this …. why isn’t there an app that texts you when you leave your vehicle to make sure you took your firearm out? I mean, I get text updates after driving and parking on my vehicle location and another one to make sure I checked my backseat for anything left behind (ie child)."

If you have an Apple phone, you can do this buy buying an Apple Airtag and placing it in your car (anywhere is fine) and when you set it up, you can have Siri remind you to lock up your gun when your phone (and presumably you) get some distance from your car. People have also tracked down their stolen vehicles this way too. I'm sure Android phones can probably be set up to do the same.

You could also put one in your child's car seat section that comes out with the child if you need a reminder to bring them with you too.

I have often wondered how hectic one’s life must be to forget about a child they put into the vehicle and transported themselves. If it’s that bad, I’d probably just keep the pistol on me.

Personally, I’d probably rather forget my phone in the car. I certainly haven’t felt the love for them I have a child…

I probably won’t be putting any tracking devices on any firearms though. That sounds like something the .gov would mandate…
