No, no, it is 100% effective! They just stick the needle in your eardrum, and the problem is solved!
Tinnitus results from nerve damage, not damage to the ear drum. In some cases of persistent childhood infections of the middle ear, small tubes are inserted through the ear drums (myringotomy) so that fluid can drain out. The ear drums (tympanic membranes) heal upon removal of the tubes, just as they usually heal after traumatic ruptures.

The original posting was for general information for those troubled by tinnitus, a common affliction of long-term shooters. If you don't care to try acupuncture, it's no loss to me.
