Has anyone seen this? seems like the bullet is mostly unidentifiable, but I thought it was noteworthy. There's even rifling marks on the bullet.

Click on the photo and video gallery link, then the little picture of the bullet. I couldn't provide a direct link.

Yay for Acura not being afraid of anti-gun backlash...if I had the cash for an Acura I'd get one :D

What's funny is Honda was being lambasted a few months ago on some of the boards about a commercial where they equate guns to something "harmful" (I think that was the word they used).

I don't read much into either commercial...

The only thing, on the surface, that I read was the new TL is fast as a bullet. I knew nothing about the car before the ad. The Acura site says it has a 280 HP V6...that's a lotta horsies for a sedan. I remember the Nissan Altima with the 250 horse V6 being rated as real fast.

So, I guess a bullet is fitting :)

You can get the new TL with 305hp and SH-AWD.

It might not be as fast as a bullet but it can out handle one.

This maybe a little off topic, but if you want to see a cool slo-mo bullet video watch Korn's Freak On A Leash music video.

+1 on the Korn video. Korn is a bit in my past, but I remember the video as being a nice little expository on what a bullet can slice through.

Thanks for the link nwilliams, I checked it out. As far as the 'harmful' Honda ad goes...uh, guns are MEANT to be harmful. I remember seeing the hydrogen car ad with the water guns. I really see that as a matter of perspective...but that's me. I'm not a big Honda fan or anything, but I thought the ad was funny.

If they had a bunch of overweight people eating water burgers instead of Big Macs, we'd be hearing from other people....it's just a matter of perspective.

I hate the Ford Flex ads. They brag about a crossover that seats seven and gets 24mpg, my wagon seats eight and gets 24mpg, and its 15 years old.

If you've never ridden in a TL, go test drive one....hell i'd consider selling all my guns but my ccp for a down payment.

Cool video, thanks for posting.

I didn't think it was anti-gun either. The first time I saw it I thought, "what the !@#$ is this"? :D

Though not gun related, this is a kick butt car commercial that any gearhead, gun loving, tinker junky would love:

What you see in the video is NOT CGI - just an awful lot of takes and patience!

Yeah, my dads 740 gets 24 mpg and is 22 years old.

Was the Honda ad the one with the squirt gun? That one didn't straight out piss me off, just irked me little.

The Acura Commercial came on & I locked on to the bullet. Next thing I noticed was my daughter saying how cool it was. Then she brought up some bullet questions. She likes to help reload.

I don't read much into either commercial...

As we shouldn't. Automakers intend to grab the consumer's attention, and Honda motor co. just drew parallells into the firearms world to achieve that goal.

I wouldn't consider either ad to be anti or pro gun any more than a Jack Link's commercial to be for or against sasquatch.

my wagon seats eight and gets 24mpg, and its 15 years old.
My 2000 Ford Tarus wagon seats 8, if at least 3 are kids, and easily gets 24 MPG on the highway.

Since this post says 'Tarus', also a firearms manufactor, does it count a gun related?

jad0110, that Accord ad with the Rube Goldberg device is fan-freakin' tastic. I saw it a while ago, but I could watch that 100 times and still be impressed.

that add makes me want to see how many bottles I can perfectly aline and shoot a single bullet down the neck of multiple ones. Obvously they'd have to be about a yard apart if not more to keep the fragments from one damaging the second

Dont have any pics of mine, but other than the wheels and the lack of woodgrain, here's its twin.

Yes, those SUV sized wagons get 24mph on the highway.

Now compare it to a new Flex in an offset head-on crash test or the amount of pollutants they put in the air.

The first thing that popped into my mind was the thought that the wake from the bullet would start to shatter the glass before the exit from the bottom of the bottle.

Supersonic bullets move lots of air, That is why we have the crack from their travel.

Thread hijack, now, back to your regularly scheduled thread

Zach and LaEscopeta, My last car was a 2000 Ford Taurus Wagon, got 25 mpg (fortunately, since I drove 500 - 550 miles a day, 5 days a week). I had it for about 1 1/2 years (bought it used). If the tranny hadn't given up the ghost, I'd still be driving it.
