Greeting's All-
T'was just wondering if anyone else in the firearms industry was being
tormented by the BATF when an applicant presents a valid ID such as
a state issued DL, military ID, passport, etc that contains an address
that differs from that listed on form 4473. Here in good ole' Birmingham
AL the BATF is really cracking down on FFL dealer's regarding this matter.
Recently, I've had too literally jump thru all kind's of loop holes to make
an honest, valid sale because the applicant's address didn't match up.
And one of these was a distinguished U.S. Army combat veteran just
returning from Iraq by way of Germany. Here is the deal. This active
duty solider had a physical address located in Mobile, AL. His Alabama
DL address was listed as Ft. Rucker, AL. Like I said, he was on leave
just returning from Iraq, by way of Germany; with a set of orders that
place him in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO by the 23rd of May. Low and behold
the BATF didn't particulary believe in this eight year combat veteran,
and had me make copies of all his legal address'es, as well as his orders
placing him at Ft. Leonard Wood.
All this Army veteran wanted to buy was a Taurus Millinenim Pro in .45
ACP in order to protect his family from the constant threat of violence.
The way I see it, we ourselves are our own worst enemy. My client
cleared the F.B.I. NICS check without a problem, so why in the hell
is the BATF so down on our returning troops? I would like to hear a
lot of responses, please as I'm a little ticked off.
BTW, is this happening to other dealer's in other parts of the country?
I support our troops in the fight against terrorism, therefore I think our
young men and women in uniform should be treated with the Golden Rule
Of Dignity.
