Adhesive for scope rings

Heh. I figured that 3,000 rounds of '06 oughta do as much moving of a scope as a box or two of "real" cartridges. :)

If the rings loosen, that says to me that the screws loosened. Bad vibes. Okay, to keep the screws from loosening, folks have been using LocTite for multitudes of years on all manner of threaded connections where vibrations and impacts caused problems.

Again, blue loctite is made for 1/4" and larger bolts. Yes, it works but with the price of using heat to remove it. Purple 222MS loctite is for small screws and will require no heat. Keep things simple and use the correct product for the application.
Except that if you tell most people who are not professional mechanics to use purple loc-tite, you get this crinkling of the brow and "Huh?" as a response. I have mounted many scopes professionally over the years in various shops, but because of the OP's surliness , I'll only add that there is good and bad advice in this thread, he can figure out which is which.

I put muzzle brakes on my 325WSM rifles. My rings have loosened and now I have to sight in scopes again. Could some of you folks that have put a bonding agent on the top rings let me know what has worked for you? I've read 3m extra strength flexible adhesive or cement glue work. I know there was a thread on this topic in the past but replies are closed out. Also I saw opinions from guys speculating and guessing that were not first hand experiences. Please refrain from responding if you have not had first hand experience with this issue or know some one that has. Useless opinions are waste of time.

I've used powdered rosin for years and no problem. It is easily removed when changing rings/scopes. Bought mine at Brownell's gunsmith supply, but it's probably available locally at a hardware store. Never had a scope slip when using it.

don't want to hear from people speculating. Maybe you actually read my complete original post-lol Forums-go figure

Ok. I’ve never applied tape to my scope mounts. I buy decent rings and havent had any issues.

I have bought rifles that had crappy Centerpoint and BSA scopes mounted in crappy rings. These crappy rings had tape on them presumably to make up for the crappy tolerences.

I have never felt the need to add tape to my scopes.

Good luck.

People are trying to help you, even if some might not be what you want. Heck, it's the internet, filter out what you don't like and take what you do.
When I was growing up we were told by our elders: if you don’t have something good to say keep your mouth shut” I guess you were raised differently LOL . All I asked was a response from people with the same experience. I prefer not hear useless opinions if that is ok with you.
