Just bought an EAA P.A.P 7.62 rifle for my grandpa. He is wanting to put a scope on the rifle. It has a picatinny rail and he is wanting to get a scope that is 40-50mm. When looking at this gun, will i need to have some type of riser on the current rail system in order to clear the front site? Or will a single mount work? Kind of new at the whole scope mounting for picatinny rails. Any advice and suggestions would help.

Hard to say. The overall length of the scope will come into play, as well as the eye relief of the scope you choose. That will determine how far rearward the scope sits, and whether or not the objective wll touch the front sight.

From the picture, it appears the front sight is pinned where it pivots up. Can that pin be driven out?

The best option would be to take the rifle to a local shop with a good selection of rings and scopes and ask for assistance.
