I'm considering selling my blue (1976) Ruger NM Blackhawk 6.5 in. .357 magnum revolver. It's like new, 100 rounds through it. Has vent rib & sambar stag grips from Eagle Grips ($375). Comes with unused black holster from Alamo Leather.

Because of the grips, I'm a little unsure what to ask.

Suggestions?

It's a very common sixgun with no collector value so don't think big bucks. You'll get more out of it by selling the gun, holster and grips separate. The grips will probably get you $200-$350, depending on how well made they are, how much bark they show and how well matched the two panels are. The holster, whatever you can get. It won't add to the value of the gun if sold with it. Remove the vent rib if at all possible. Should get $300-$350 for the gun if in top condition and if the vent rib installation did not mar the finish. If sold with the vent rib in place, it will probably actually decrease the value of the gun. Few would be willing to pay extra for it.

Yeah, I wondered if I might need to pull the stag grips off. Kinda hated to, since it looks so good against that black-as-night finish.

That's an idea. Thanks!

Glad I refreshed the page before posting:) CraigC is exactly right...you need to sell the grips & leather separately. I would say that around here, the gun if LNIB would bring around $500, but I would check with some of the online sites to establish a value.

Definitely remove the vent rib if possible, as long as it doesn't seriously mar the finish underneath. Vent ribs and single actions just don't go together, at least not to my way of thinking. I believe CraigC nailed the price range: if the gun looks like new then between $300 to $350 sounds about right. Sell the grips separately and if there's little or no interest on the holster, add it in with the gun.
