I just bought a new Taurus 1911 (blued with rail). In my haste to try it out, I grabbed a few boxes of G.I. ball ammo I had lying around forever. After going through one box, I noticed that the ammo appeared to be quite old, apparently dating back to 1952. The primers have a red painted ring around them, and the cases are stamped "WCC 52".

The pistol functioned fine by the way (it shoots very low though), but I am concerned as to whether this ammo is corrosive or not. Is there a way to tell?
Thanks in advance.

Different arsenals and manufacturers transitioned over
to non-corrosive primers at different times, but the bulk of the transitions occurred in the early 1950s.

Western Cartridge Company (WCC) began using non-corrosive primers for their military .45 ball during November of 1952.

.45 ammo produced by them with a lot number of 6375 and earlier is corrosive.
