Search member @LiveLife he started a mega thread, I think it's still going.
For 22LR at lowest cost per round shipped and going strong - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-shipped-pricing.902560/page-10#post-12447456

Currently we are around $30/500 but in previous shortages, we paused around $40/500, then around $30/500 before dipping down to $20/500 and even hit $16/500 briefly before rebounding back towards $20/500.

I think with current shortage post Covid and supply chain/inflation factored in cost increases, not sure if we will get back to $20/500 but prices have been dipping below $30/500 only to be sold out quickly. I am holding out waiting to see what Black Friday deals are going to be offered before I stock back up but feel that we may dip below current pricing if stock at current pricing don't sell out fast on a regular basis.

Thanks, but I'm looking for .38 special.

Why might there be a shortage of ammunition and ammunition components? Why might there be ammunition affordability issues?

"The Pentagon last week announced the latest withdrawal of equipment from U.S. military inventories for Ukraine since August 2021-- including millions of rounds of ammo.

"The 26th draw-down authorized by the Biden Administration includes 150 heavy machine guns fitted with thermal sights to counter Russian drones, 250 vehicles, 10,000 120mm mortar rounds, and 'over' 20 million rounds of small arms ammunition among other items. In all, the latest stockpile is valued at up to $400 million. Overall, this brings the total of American military assistance to Ukraine this year to more than $19 billion. By comparison, Ukraine spent just $5.9 billion on its entire military in 2021. [emphasis Old Hobo]

"'To meet Ukraine's evolving battlefield requirements, the United States will continue to work with its Allies and partners to provide Ukraine with key capabilities,' noted the Pentagon.

"When it comes to the running tally of equipment transferred from U.S. stocks to Ukraine this year, more than 104 million rounds of small arms ammunition of .50 caliber or smaller have been allocated along with ..." [emphasis Old Hobo]

Aim Surplus has very good single box pricing. If you want 38 special they have PPU for $19.95.

Thanks, I'll likely order some. That's a good price.

excellent reloader. i’m very happy with its 9mm and 38sp reduced recoil ammo. free shipping for veterans.

Is Cavalry all reloaded? The prices are good for sure.

yes, cavalry is a commercial reloader. i’ve just gone through 200 rounds of 9mm in a s&w shield ez and 300 rounds of reduced recoil 38sp ammo in a s&w 642. all ran great. cavalry ships promptly and packs its ammo better than any other online seller. if you try some please share your experience. i am obviously happy to find decent, reduced recoil, 38sp ammo at such an attractive price.

Thanks! How does it shoot out of the 642? Is the reduced recoil comparable to a wadcutter, less, more?

good question. i actually shot some remington 148gr wadcutter and herters 158gr fmj flat nose ammo to compare. the cavalry was a tad lighter in recoil than the wadcutter, obviously the fmj was stoutest. all were within my acceptable recoil limits as i cheated a bit by wearing a thin glove on my shooting hand because my trigger finger was getting chewed up. the 642 for sure isn’t a range plinker, haha.

to digress a bit…i’m thinking to move away from the 642 as a ccw. at legitimate defensive distances it is accurate enough, but i am carrying a keltec p32 way more. the p32 actually feels much better to shoot than the 642 and i luckily have a stash of 32acp ammo. an airweight revolver simply isn’t “doing it” for me now. i may revisit my steel taurus m85 but its added weight makes it more cumbersome for my ccw that, while perfectly lawful, must be absolutely socially discreet.

I have both, and like both. I do prefer the true pocket pistols for every day carry.
