guthrie, ok
I have a springfield 1911 I would like to have partially engraved. I dont need anything one of a kind or fancy- thos aint a 3000 dollar gun. This gun is polished stainless on the side of the slide and matte/bead blasted on top of the slide. See the picture below. I want some classic scrollwork done on the bead blasted portion of the slide. Any idea what the average price range for this might be, and a good but reasonably priced artist you'd recommend? So far, I've only requested a quote from Yves Halliburton but haven't heard back yet.

There is a hispanic guy here in columbia sc that custom carves scenes into wood stocks. He also does metal engeraving and scroll work. I have seen him ai several gun shows, and his work is beautiful. I will see if I can find his name and contact info. I would imagine his prices would be reasonable.

Most gun shows I've been to have someone who does laser "engraving" relatively inexpensively. IMHO laser "engraving" is more like etching but might be worth checking out who does what in your area

Ok thank you. Halliburton got back to me and said 2-300. Seems reasonable, no?

As far as I know, most engraving is priced by the amount of coverage. So $2-300 would be a great deal to cover the whole slide top. If that includes just your first initial, then not so much.
