I have a glock 23 that i've had for a few months now and it shoots pretty good. I also have a springfield xd in 40. I was thinkin about loading some cast lead bullets to shoot out of both pistols. I know the thing about not suppose to shoot lead out glock barrels and i'm not really to concerned about that. I keep a close eye on all my pistols and keep them very clean so that won't be a issue. My issue is that the chamber in a glock barrel seams to be bigger than most other 40 cal and don't support the cases as well and i'm just wondering how much of a issue will that be shooting alot of reloads. That would seem to put alot of wear and tear on the cases and maybe get a rupture. Has anybody had a problem with that? What would be a good aftermarket barrel to buy that would be accurate and have a regular size chamber and also better for shooting lead? I'm new to this site so hello guys and i would app. the help.

One of the gripes against the 40 caliber Glocks has been that it does not have a fully supported barrel.
There are several aftermarket companies that make a fully supported replacement. Try out Lone Wolf. They carry just about anything ever needed to upgrade a Glock including aftermarket barrels.

barrels on the glock 23

hey I have a glock 23c but didn't like how the front sight darkened so quickly at the range so I bought a new barrel it is a lone wolf barrel without the compensation holes in it so the sight doesnt blacken you also want to get the 3.5 trigger connector installed like I did that helps with accuracy and I installed a hogue handall also the trigger is the Ghost one that is self cleaning I also shaved my trigger like I was shown in the pics and description I found on the net so thats about it thats my baby very accurate

that would seem to put a lot of wear and tear on the cases and maybe get a rupture.

I've shot thousands of my hand loads out of my 23C without a problem. I've shot small amounts (100 or less) of cast hand loads again without a problem. But the cost difference between cast and plated has closed to the point where I don't bother with cast much.

I recently purchased Storm Lake conventionally rifled barrels for my Glock 19 and Glock 22 so that I could safely shoot my cast bullet handloads. I have been highly satisfied with both and would recommend Storm Lake to others.

I don't know where rscalzo is buying his cast bullets, but the ones I buy are heads and tails cheaper than plated ones.

That being said, I have a few Storm Lake barrels that I got from Top Glock, and a .357 sig for my 23 I got from Lone Wolf. I think I like the Lone Wolf one the best.

Thanks!!!

Well i appreciate the help guys and lone wolf seems to be the one everybody mentions so i will look into them.

The second and third gen Glock barrels have as much case support as you can get and still have reliable function. My Glock barrels are as well supported as my Lone Wolf ones. Remove the barrel on your 23 and drop a round into the chamber. You will see that the case is supported out to the extractor groove all the way around. Then try the same thing with any other pistol you have. You'll see what I mean. 99% of my shooting is lead reloads in my 9mm & .40 Glocks. Case life is no different than my other pistols.
