Got my Russian capture K98K about a year ago and its in excellent condition. But I keep looking at the other 98K's out there for sale for under $200 also like the 48, 48A and such. Are they worth getting or should I just get another AIM 98K and the rich history that goes with it? Thought about a Russian 91/30 but I'd like to stick to the cheap 8mm ammo.

AIM must have run out. They used to have a ton of them for different prices all the way up to $180 for their A grade pieces. Then the ads all started disappearing. A few days the ad would reappear but then disappear almost immediately. I ended up getting lucky and catching one of those ads and bought one but they must be scraping the bottom of the barrel. The K98 I got was a latewar kriegsmodell with no cleaning rod hole or bayonet stud. :( Not pretty but it seems to be a good shooter.

If it is a shooter you want, get an M48 or any of the Czech or Yugoslav Mausers. They shoot just as well as the German guns, and you don't have to feel guilty about customizing them.
