Aim Surplus

AIM is top notch. These Enfields however are pretty rough. Most are Ishapore reworks and have seen hard use. Bores are in good shape but there is vitually no finish and the painting that the Indians/Pakistanis/whoever used to refinish them is typically glopped in the cracks and crevices. In other word, they're so so condition.

Just recieved a M38 nagant from AIM it is in exec cond and only took 5 days to Mass. Great service and it only took me about 10 Mins to strip it down and clean.

I ordered a Mark IV for my father several months ago when they had them. It was so-so. Beat up stock and full of the old dried up cosmoline. Rifling in the bore was good. Other guns from aim, SKS, 91mosin, have been great. Overall though the ones I get from www.classicarms.com seem to be in better shape. I've heard Aim's customer service is great if you need to exchange it.

I have bought four or five milsurps from AIM and was pleased with all of them. Great service.

I live about 5 miles from AIM also and you will not have any problems with them. They are really good.

My old man and I have bought several guns from AIM over the years. I ordered an Enfield from them last December as a Christmas gift for my dad, but after testing the headspace, he determined it was probably unsafe to shoot. We got in touch with AIM, explained the situation, and they accepted the rifle back with a full refund and no hassles. Every other weapon I've bought has been in "as described" condition or better, and their customer service is first rate.

I ordered a No1 MkIII Ishy from AIM. It turned out to be a beautiful rifle, probably unfired. The only downside is they gave me 40 pounds of primordial gun ooze as a bonus.

I have done a lot of business with AIM. Always good stuff and good service.

I was rather impressed with responses this thread garnered. Aim sounds like a top notch crew.
I'm not so much worried about the customer service as I am the quality of the gun. I've never been terribly fond of buying things that I can't see, inspect and feel. The one fellow that frequents our gunshows with mausers, enfields, mosins, etc. marks his stuff up rather rediculously. :scrutiny:

I can't comment on the Enfield, but I was extremely satisfied with the SKS I got from them about a month ago, very good service from AIM.

Only one? I can't count the number of 'Rare Bosnian mausers I've seen at gunshows with price tags upwards of $300.

I have no love for Enfields, but when I called to ask them about the condition of a rifle I was going to order (SKS), they didn't beat around the bush or lie about it. The saleslady actually transferred me to someone in the warehouse so they could answer my question. You might want to call them and ask them how the rifles look...they're not so desperate for business that they have to lie about the condition of their products.

As stated above, AIM = good people.

I've been eyeing up the No.1 MKIII enfields for awhile now. Unfortunately Aim always seems to have a different rifle I want when I get around to thinking about buying one.

Got a sales flyer in today, they now have M38 MNs again, K31s, and Yugoslavian K98 refurbs- I really want to get one of these as I missed the boat on them a few years ago.

The ones I see in local gunshops seem to be in less than super condition and overpricred.. To show how old I am when my eleventh birthday rolled around Dad took me to a discount store in an old factory building that had a huge selection of mil-surps. Mk 3's for 11.50 and 4's for 13.50. We spent the extra two bucks and selected one that appeared unissued. Dad took it to a gunsmith and had him draw file the barrel and put a really nice blue job it. I kept it until around 1980, sold it to a friend to help finance a bench gun. If I had to go to war with a bolt gun ti would probably my first choice. Thank's for listening Essex
