The Aimpoint PRO I ordered in December arrived today.
So far, I really like it.

Pro:
* Bright clear dot. (Even too bright in direct sun at highest setting.)
* 30,000 hour (3.4 year) battery life when left turned on.
* Military grade heavy duty construction, and waterproof to 150 feet.
* Built-in lens covers.
* Captive tethered W&E adjustment caps.
* NV compatible.
* Very clever ratcheting clamp bolt sets torque automatically when tightened.
* Reasonable cost ($377.36 & free shipping from Optics Planet).
* Bore sighting at 150 yards only required 4 clicks down and 2 clicks right.

Con:
* Maybe a little heavier then the eoTech it replaced, but not that bad.
* Clamp bolt sticks out further then I would prefer, but its due to the ratcheting clamp torque setting feature.

I love mine, it is better than the three M2 s I have BUT the rise of the mount , even with the shim in place, is a little lower than the M68 standard mount for flat tops. So when you use the bomb proof La Rue Tactical magnifier pivot mount on a flat top there is about 3/8" difference, but miraculously works ok. If they had one more shim available I'd be happy with mine 100% and I am not gonna shell out for another LaRue mount for it. BTW I see you use the good Swan goose neck. While considered "old school " today it is indeed the most rugged of it's kind and offers a very nice pic rail for scope mounting also. I have one on an SP1 CAR and used it when I started to retrain in modern technique in 2000 with the M2 Aimpoint mounted co witness.

I've had one for a couple of years and think it's great. Do like the self torquing clamp.

Did you get your Eotech Refund yet?
No.
Not a peep since they acknowledged receiving it on 1-15-16.

They actually had received it 12-22-15, 4 weeks earlier!!

Nice choice rc, and I like the old Colt SP-1 too! Classic. One rifle I wish now I had been able to buy from my dad was the SP-1 Sporter he had when I was a teenager.

And now that you have an Aimpoint, you won't have to buy stock in Duracell to keep the power on! My friend looked at me like I was crazy when I told him I never turn my PRO off, to which I said I would have bought something different if I didn't want a 3 year run time. I just hope the spare batteries are still good when I need them... :uhoh:

I'm treading the same water as rcmodel. Decided to try the Trijicon MRO red dot for a little run.

I do have a couple AimPoint that I like, but I wanted to see if this MRO does a good job. Night vision compatible at a descent price point is intriguing.

Perhaps the most interesting thing I have learned so far is, the Aimpoint is usable with the front lens cover closed!!!

It seems the right eye sees the red dot in the blocked black sight in the same place the unobscured left eye sees the target!!!

Try as I might, I can look at the target with my left eye, and see the red dot inside the blocked sight.
Then open the lens cover, and the dot is exactly on target!!!

I know, the old Trijacon Bindon Aiming Concept at work.

But I never tried it with my EOtech, I guess because it didn't have a front lens cover??

Armson OEG doesn't work for me.
No probs shooting both eyes open with dominant eye lined up with aiming system.
Strongly right eye dominant, but have Duane's syndrome....left eye doesn't turn left.
With both eyes open, right looking through scope, I can move right slightly and cause the left to become dominant (right fuzz out).
Used to be able to switch back and forth behind the scope.
Old eyes don't work as well as young ones.
Vision was better than 20/15, degraded to 20/20 in mid 40's.
Even with lenses OK, I noticed the work required...........used to be so easy.
Sucks getting old.

I agree it sucks!

If I hadn't got old, I wouldn't need a red dot sight on my Colt Carbine to be darn good with it!!

When I was younger, I had I guess what is called 20-10 vision.

My optometrist called it 'Chuck Yeager eyes'.

I could see bullet holes in 50 or 100 yard targets everyone else used spotting scopes to see.
600 yard targets with an M-14?
Jack rabbits at 150 with an open sight .22?
Pistol sights clearly enough to shoot on the 5th. Army AMU pistol team two years.

No problem!!

But that was then, and this is now, 45 years later, after the fifth pair of stronger bifocals. :barf:

Primary Arms copy of Aimpoint Pro is sitting beside me.
Didn't know if I'd like the concept (smaller bodied red dot, TRS25 did not like on handgun....saw too much of the device around the small lens).

Dunno if I'll end up with Aimpoint 30mm clone on AR, or kids bow.
Expect to go to Aimpoint like the OP...........if the system agrees with me.

Watched the "Wild Boar Fever" series on Youtube.
They really stack 'em up!

Can't afford a micro Aimpoint, or a Merkel Helix.
So am rednecking my pseudo pig rig...........Ruger #1 RSI with clone Aimpoint........might shoot a yote, or chuck or maybe even deer.

See how I like the concept, when my 4B30 ring comes in.

Couldn't get my 2-7X Redfield Rev back far enough and the offset rings are horrible looking, so until I find a M8 4X or older VX2 2-7X (longer front tube)...........this reddot euro rig is what I'll play with.

Might be my kids deer rifle eventually.

Just noticed my new one doesn't have the battery cap attached to the tube like the W&E caps shown in the instruction book & box photo.

Is this a change recently??

Near as I can tell they don't sell it separately.
And the new battery cap has no way to attach it if they did.

I think they have changed the design somewhere along the line.
And haven't up-dated thier web page, or box labels.

I sent them an email today.

I just received a new PRO from Optics Planet yesterday and have a question.

Your web page has a picture of a battery cap retainer strap on the PRO Model.

And your product description inside the box lid says:

"Battery and adjustment cap retainer straps means you will never lose your pieces."

Mine doesn't have a battery cap retainer strap, or a place on the cap for one.
Is this normal??

Just went and checked my PRO and no retention strap for the battery cap. No idea if or when this was a running production change, I bought mine back in August.

Thanks for checking!!

It's really no big deal to me one way or another as I'm not likely to drop the battery cap under the kitchen table and lose it when I change the battery three years from now anyway.

I just wanted to make sure Optics Planet didn't sell me a counterfeit Aimpoint!! :D

No, seriously, I just wondered why their website & box label's are so far out of date if they changed it a year or so ago??

If you don't want to leave it on all the time, you will find that it's super easy to turn it on and off in the dark without having to look at it, because of the way that the on/brightness switch works. Just take your finger and 'roll' the switch to the right from the top until it stops rotating (full bright), then come back three or four clicks or whatever you prefer for a dot brightness.

Easy peasy.
