Over my lifetime I have had a lot of scopes break. It was working fine, I put the rifle away, pull it out a year later and it will not hold zero. All of these anecdotal stories are just that. Scopes break and if you put a non-springer rated scope on your strong (or not even very strong) spring break barrel rifle it is very likely to damage it. And, I am one of those people who feels badly when I do something to a product and break it due to my own negligence, then would consider that dishonest if I then returned it and said something like ,"I dunno, it just broke, duh" as I would have to tell the truth. Just me I guess. Every time one of these air rifle scope threads comes up there is this comparison to an AR, it is not the same in any way, the bolts close on my 1022 and my BAR also. Yeah, ARs are rough on scopes, I agree, but they do not have that sudden, high intensity recoil reversal that the massive piston assembly creates when it slams to an instantaneous stop into the front of the compression chamber.
