Prices are fair, but remember that those pistols are single shot or "spring pistols". While they will have magazines they will require the slide to be pulled for every shot as they are spring powered. Depending on what your friends play with you might want to consider something a little more competitive. Check out THIS site as I have been to the retail location and their prices are reasonable. I was most impressed with the metal gas pistols and metal AEG's as they felt the most realistic. Completely plastic airsoft guns do not feel very real.

I have the p99 its a great fun.I practice with it everynight.but like Domino said each time you shoot you must Pull the slide back.I like that because it forces me to aim again and practice my breathing etc..I have a target about 12 ft from my bed and have a blast..I suggest one to anyone ..And if somebody was to shoot you with it .Im sure it would leave a mark.I was impressed with how far it will shoot..I would say 50 ft or so easy..

Thanks a lot. Wow, do they make the airsoft pistols that aren't single shots?
I think I'd like one of those if they made a Walther P-99 replica that was more than single shot. Any recommendations or links are much appreciated. I didnt see one at the airsoft atlanta site.

The single shot guns are much for for fooling around inside the house; just make sure you wear eye protection!

If you're serious about skirmishing, look into the automatic electric guns (AEGs) or gas blowbacks (GBBs). They are true semi-automatic and they use either a battery or gas to propel the BB. They also have increased range and hurt a lot more when you get hit!

My baby is a Tokyo Marui AK-47 with a metal receiver and real wooden furniture, upgraded to shoot a little under 400fps with a .2g BB. :D

I know Maruzen makes a gas blow back (GBB) P99 model, but it's over $150 I believe. A good choice for a affordable gbb would be the KWA/KSC Beretta M9s that airsoftatlanta.com sells for around $89. That was my first airsoft gun and is pretty nice for being under $100 IMO. I sold it awhile back to help fund my AEG purchase (A TM Colt M733). The full blowback gbbs are nice because they function very similarly to real firearms. IE the slide cycles with every shot, the slide locks back on the last round, mag changes are accomplished correctly, the safeties/decockers work correctly, etc. They have the downside of requiring you to purchase the gas to use them though obviously...

Anyway, as someone said above, if you want to play seriously at all the single shot things are worthless garbage. If however that's all everyone else that you'll be playing with will be using you can still have fun little games indoors and such with them. Beats using nerf arrow guns, lol...

You play any Domino? We have a small 8ish or so person group that plays in the Lilburn area occasionally. Unfortunately most of the guys are college age and off at various schools so getting together for games anymore has become few and far between at best...

These guys have pretty much covered it.

p.s. This was my collection at it's peak:

It's about 2/3 the size of that now, sold some stuff off to buy some real-steel.

How sad is that? Me too, I sold a Tokyo Marui M16 Vietnam Era version and made more than enough back to buy my Romanian SKS. I should sell a few more, could buy something else then!

Scorpio, what was your favorite and what would you reccommend for a 1st airsoft?

Also, you ever shoot at Reed's in Santa Clara? PM me if you want to go shooting.

ScorpioVI, two questions...

1) Are those MP5ks Maruzen GBB?

2) WHERE are your orange muzzle devices? Tsk, tsk, lawbreaker. ;)

I hear you. Sometimes I'd eyeball my airsoft collection and go, "hmm, I can get a Bushmaster lower for that... another Surefire foreend for this... oh, 10 M1A hi-caps for that piece over there... oh look, that one's worth an SU-16!" It takes some willpower not to sell them all.

And don't even get me started on web gear and BDUs. :banghead:

I'm a big Steyr AUG fan. My favorite was the Cyber AUG made by Killer Studios in Japan. It's the only airsoft gun I ever regret selling, but I sold that for $1000 which made for a decent downpayment on my F4i (sportbike). My second favorite is the AUG HBAR, which I still have to this day.

For a first airsoft? Honestly, you can't go wrong with any AEG from Tokyo Marui. That would be my first start. A buddy of mine, DumboRAT, has a good newbie article posted over at http://www.airsoftplayers.com/newbie/faq.asp , and I also have a couple of reviews posted on that site if you want to check it out.

I don't think I've shot there since they changed ownership from National to Reed's. I've been in there a few times (I was just picking up some Surefire batteries there last Saturday actually) but usually to buy stuff, not shoot. The truth is I've got my own little personal range at 10th St. that I have access to on a 24/7 basis. I can draw from holster, do double-taps, rapid-fire, whatever, with nobody to look over my shoulder. It negates the need for me to go to a public indoor range. For rifle work, I usually end up over at Metcalf or sometimes Chabot.

check out one of these sites instead for the real deal:

I can't recommend Airsoft Extreme enough. I've known the owners for several years now, going back to when they were still running their business out of Mickey's garage and Peter's living room. They're close friends of mine, so I'm admittedly biased, but you won't find finer people in the airsoft industry. Oh, and the AEX owners are all real-steel shooters, they're "one of us".

Nope, these are the Tokyo Marui AEG variety.

It's a stupid law that only applies to importing airsoft (Customs) and transporting airsoft (DOT). I choose to ignore it. A 6mm strip of bright orange around your muzzle is not going to compensate for stupidity. If a cop sees you getting stupid with an airsoft gun, he'll probably pull the trigger without bothering to identify whether what you're carrying is replica or not.

I treat my airsoft guns like I do my real-steel. When I transport, I transport them in locked cases in the trunk of my car. When I'm skirmishing, I'm playing in sanctioned and recognized fields and/or BLM lands where the authorities are forewarned of our presence. If you think about it, my way makes more sense than a stupid orange muzzle. But what do I know, I've only been doing this since 1989. :neener:

Hey, do you know him personally? I haven't heard of him in ages!

As well as a person can know another online I guess. We've never met in person but used to chat online all the time and e-mail. I know he dropped out of the airsoft scene a few years ago, like me, but he was active in another gun/knife forum that I frequent, was posting there everyday and all of a sudden just dropped out of the scene.

Edit: I got curious and ran a search for his posts on USN. He had posts all the way from April to June of last year, had about 25 or so posts on June 16th and poof, nothing from that point on. There's even a thread over there dated back to October where people were asking about him. No answers. Weird!

I've been looking for one of those Maruzen 870 replicas where you can eject a shell each time you pump it... any ideas on the best place to pick one up?
