How sad is that? Me too, I sold a Tokyo Marui M16 Vietnam Era version and made more than enough back to buy my Romanian SKS. I should sell a few more, could buy something else then!
I hear you. Sometimes I'd eyeball my airsoft collection and go, "hmm, I can get a Bushmaster lower for that... another Surefire foreend for this... oh, 10 M1A hi-caps for that piece over there... oh look, that one's worth an SU-16!" It takes some willpower not to sell them all.
And don't even get me started on web gear and BDUs. :banghead:
Scorpio, what was your favorite and what would you reccommend for a 1st airsoft?
I'm a big Steyr AUG fan. My favorite was the Cyber AUG made by Killer Studios in Japan. It's the only airsoft gun I ever regret selling, but I sold that for $1000 which made for a decent downpayment on my F4i (sportbike). My second favorite is the AUG HBAR, which I still have to this day.

For a first airsoft? Honestly, you can't go wrong with any AEG from Tokyo Marui. That would be my first start. A buddy of mine, DumboRAT, has a good newbie article posted over at
http://www.airsoftplayers.com/newbie/faq.asp , and I also have a couple of reviews posted on that site if you want to check it out.
Also, you ever shoot at Reed's in Santa Clara? PM me if you want to go shooting.
I don't think I've shot there since they changed ownership from National to Reed's. I've been in there a few times (I was just picking up some Surefire batteries there last Saturday actually) but usually to buy stuff, not shoot. The truth is I've got my own little personal range at 10th St. that I have access to on a 24/7 basis. I can draw from holster, do double-taps, rapid-fire, whatever, with nobody to look over my shoulder. It negates the need for me to go to a public indoor range. For rifle work, I usually end up over at Metcalf or sometimes Chabot.
check out one of these sites instead for the real deal:

I can't recommend Airsoft Extreme enough. I've known the owners for several years now, going back to when they were still running their business out of Mickey's garage and Peter's living room. They're close friends of mine, so I'm admittedly biased, but you won't find finer people in the airsoft industry. Oh, and the AEX owners are all real-steel shooters, they're "one of us".
ScorpioVI, two questions...
1) Are those MP5ks Maruzen GBB?
Nope, these are the Tokyo Marui AEG variety.
2) WHERE are your orange muzzle devices? Tsk, tsk, lawbreaker.
It's a stupid law that only applies to importing airsoft (Customs) and transporting airsoft (DOT). I choose to ignore it. A 6mm strip of bright orange around your muzzle is not going to compensate for stupidity. If a cop sees you getting stupid with an airsoft gun, he'll probably pull the trigger without bothering to identify whether what you're carrying is replica or not.
I treat my airsoft guns like I do my real-steel. When I transport, I transport them in locked cases in the trunk of my car. When I'm skirmishing, I'm playing in sanctioned and recognized fields and/or BLM lands where the authorities are forewarned of our presence. If you think about it, my way makes more sense than a stupid orange muzzle. But what do I know, I've only been doing this since 1989.
