Traveling by Delta tomorrow and have a question. I have my two pistols in a hardside case ready to go in checked luggage. Just decided that I would like to bring my Sig conversion rail to also shoot 22LRs. It doesn't fit into the locked hardsided luggage. Can I bring it loose in the luggage? Technically it is not the gun (as in the frame) but I don't want to give the people at the airport a new situation to have to figure out on the spot. TSA is not required to post all of their rules and they also have the statement that, "they can prohibit a non-prohibited item" or some such statement.

Has anyone ever traveled with an extra rail?

Its fine in checked baggage, no special packing required. Do not under any circumstances attempt to bring it through the checkpoint. If it goes through a checkpoint x-ray a report has to be sent to regulatory.

I'm already squeezing in 2 pistols in a standard SIG case with some foam that I carved up. I'm waiting on a Pelican computer case to do it up right but that will be awhile. Let me see if I can bubble wrap it so it doesn't mess up the other pistols. Going to be a real mess.
