Anyone out there have any experience with Ajax wood revolver grips? I might pick up a 4" Redhawk in a few weeks and was thinking of getting some black and silver laminate grips for it. Ajax is the only place that I could find that makes them. Any testimonials (good and bad) would be appreciated.

My experience with them was way less than satisfactory.
One set of grips, pearlite compacts, flat out didnt fit my S&W 686, they gave me a hard time about returning them, and tried to claim that every S&W frame is different (New Smiths are CNC machined, but even my old smiths are pretty consistent CNC machined??) and it was normal for them to not fit and they would fit them if I sent the gun to them. Hilarious, the other set I bought was also for the 686 (first set), they fit the gun but after using a hogue, I decided the Ajax was a poor fit to my hand. YMMV

I have many pairs of Hogue wood grips. I love my wood hogues.

A few years ago Ajax had a change of ownership and quality and customer service have suffered. I would look elsewhere.

In my experience, it takes a couple of months for them to make the grip, only to have it not fit. I ordered a peal lite grip for a D frame Colt and this happened to me.

Several years ago I ordered a set of Ajax Checkered Black Silver Wood laminate grips for my blue Colt Delta Elite. I called to see if they could include the Colt Delta emblems instead of the std Colt pony emblems they show on their website and was told they could not furnish the Colt Delta emblems because they had no source for them. They did; however, offer to use the Delta emblems off my original factory rubber wrap-around grips if I would send them, which I did. Three weeks later I received my new grips with the original Colt Delta emblems installed. Needless to say I am a happy camper. I consider this excellent service from Ajax! :)

I ordered a set for my wife's Taurus PT99 (I know this is the revolver forum) and they didn't fit right at all. Instead of sending them back, I tried to get them to fit myself. Needless to say they still don't fit right, and now I can't send them back.
