I have bought 2 40 rounders.I have never had a problem with them.I use them more then i do my 30 rounders.Couple thousand rounds through my AK and not one ftf or fte..I wont even tell you how many times i have cleaned the rifle either :)

The 40s were actually issued by several countries, for use with RPKs, IIRC. The 40s I've used have all worked flawlessly. Never tried a 50-rounder.

My SAR-1 came with a 40 rounder and a 10 rounder. I've since picked up a 30 as it's less bulky for the standard AK rifle, however, the 40 works flawlessly. Like others said, it is intended for use with the RPK light machinegun. Oh what i'd give for one of those....:) Never tried the 50's though. I think it's tough to screw up an AK mag honestly.

No problems with My forty round mag.
Would like to get a drum one of these days.
Mmmmm.... drum.

never tried a 50rd

I have a romanian 40rd, it jammed once when I first got it, and it hasnt jammed since then (about 1000rds have been through it since then)

My 40 rounder has always worked flawlessly. The only problem I've had with it has been since I installed a Bushmaster BMAS folding vertical grip on the rifle and a MagPul on each of my mags. I couldn't fit the mag in with the gripin the down position. I'm fixing that by switching to a shorter vertical grip (the TDi folding grip from Mako Security - don't forget to ask about the 10% discount for THR members (ya'll can thank me later for hooking that up BTW)).

Oh yeah, JimJD, my 75 round drum is sure fun to play with, especially bump-firing. You really need to get one soon.

Exactly what jobu07 said, except that I've picked up four 30-rounders. :)

And I want a drum as well. :p Mmmmm... bump-firing... :D

The 40s are fine, they are a factory produced mag.

The 50s are "homegrown", so YMMV as far as reliability.
