castile: The ATF has taken nobody to court for simply swapping parts, unless....they are Already charged with a true felony, i.e. human trafficking, conspiracy to distribute narcotics etc.
The regs were created for importers/builders, to protect the many companies trying to sell substitute parts in the US. Maybe you knew some of this—-
Did you know that the ATF's "922r" says Nothing about any part needing info such as "made in the US" ? This based on years of reading AKfiles, and also reading "Mishaco's" comments. He's a very seasoned "human encyclopedia" FFL about AKMs, and has chatted with ATF agents about this. One or two....agents.... did not want people to waste their time over something which is a non-issue.
Misha even stated that some importers who were mistaken about their 'parts count's were fined. That was all.
You might contemplate the likelihood that the people with the main motivation -- to concern you with innuendos, half-truths (or lies) about 922r -- are probably the hundreds of gun component sellers in the US.
Their sales depend partly upon scaring the gullible and novices.
