AK47 variants with folding stocks

Hehe John--sorry about that!;) (You gotta remember that when Rita was blowing in, the local folks went nuts up here near Austin. My neighbor spent the evening filling up water jugs--I always have 'em available, grew up in tornado alley and Mom just always did that. My wife stopped rolling her eyes after 3 days of water main repair proved the usefulness--it's not always aliens or zombies...Anyhow, I spent the evening assembling an AK, a sweet hungarian. I joked with the neighbor that if things got too bad, I'd just take his water. HAH! He ended up with an AR and a 45 after that.)

Anyhow, I'd second that ACE folders. They're a whole lot more than the $50 or so that a romy wire stock would run you, but top notch.

Albatross, I have a Norinco Type 56S-1 Under Folder that is ideal for the situation you describe.
Side folders are ok, but they are bulky.

They appear to be about three times the cost of the Romanian.

For those who have them, whats the LOP on your stocks?

Can you get them the correct AK stock length? They always looked to be to long, even with their shortest listed length. That added receiver block also seems to add a bit more to the length of the gun when folded than the Romanian.

I've always been interested in their stocks, they always looked well made and thought out. I was under the impression you coundnt get them the correct length.

Why not something like that, It's also AK47 style, in 5.56x45 cal. Though, you can't keep the ammobox on when hiding it under a LONG coat, the 200rnd poach would surely stick out.

Or a Minimi SPW. When already getting the trouble of keeping a longgun under a LONG coat, then why not go big, as big in firepower? No criminal is a match to LMG.

Of course, this is Internet, I can reccommend you anything I like.

Please continue, the antis should love this. Can I be the first to offer that THR does not condone concealing a rifle in your jacket. Sorry if I am reading this wrong and am out of line here.
AND noone should condone this type of action. w.e. your RATIONALIZTION is its crazy IMO. if you can shoot with a pistol you should not carry a rifle. and if you think a .45 +p wouldnt give you the stopping power then go buy a DE.

... but well worth it.

You can use the internal receiver block (highly recommended to cut the tang, but some have left it on), which will reduce the length by about 1.5"

They offer 3 lengths of stock, plus internal or 'no-mods' receiver blocks. The folding mechanism (if used) will add about 1/2" to the mix.

Thanks nalioth,

I'm still trying to figure out if one will have the same LOP (about 12 3/4" to 13") as a standard AK fixed stock. They dont really tell you on their page what the LOP is, just the length of what I take to be the stock itself. I didnt see the total length anywhere.

The Romanians may be ugly, but they are the correct length and they are cheap. They also dont require modifying the gun, (which I would prefer not to do) and the longest part folded is the receiver tang. I like the looks of the ACE, but they all appear to be to long. While they look good, and appear to be well made, I dont know they are worth three times the money. Point is really moot for me though if they are to long.

Here's the math for you:

No-mods receiver block: about 1.5"
Internal receiver block: adds 0.0" ( mounts flush with end of receiver )

folding mechanism: about 0.5"

stock a length 7.5"
stock b length 8.5"
stock c length 9.5"

recoil pad a: 0.5"
recoil pad b: 1.0"

You can mix and match the parts to your required length and purpose. The nice thing about the Ace folding mechanism is that you can mount it to fold left or right.

A folding-stocked AK can be unobtrusivly socked away in a bag designed for a folding chair;

I have a saiga with an ace folder internal block and even with a kobra red dot and an ar style muzzle break I can get it in a tennis bag. It is easier to carry around without screaming gun to everyone.

Didn't expect to see this thread again with all the naysayers (thought its good to see the positive comments).

Just for everyone's information as I did more research and tried out a few of the AK models (an SKS too), but I found that while it is possible to hide them away under my jacket they are a bit bulky.

End the end I went with DMK's advice and found myself a M1 Carbine, it is substantially lighter and I have more familiarity with the sights. Plus, with the sling set up I have I can bring it into action quicker.

Anyway, I've been successfully packing my 'little' friend with me everywhere I go. To the corner store, the bank, my child's school, the mall and even around my house (it is a bit uncomfortable sitting down in front of the computer or in my truck, but like everyone says concealed carry is comforting, not comfortable).

/Not really

//You folks thinking that cops/government officials will be understanding of your civil rights during a time of crisis are deluded and are in obvious denial (ignorant?) of recent and not so recent history.
